Downloaded it. Looks nice, FFB not so much. Question: I have a G25, but I don't know the numbers of the buttons, so if the game says REPLAY = 16 or 18 whatever I don't know what button I have to push(?) I want to see replays etc

Ok, have now tried this out and It feels SO MUCH BETTER than I expected!


- The engine sounds in this title is something else. R3E just got competetion.

- RWD feels like proper RWD cars on gravel. Did not expect that to be honest.

- FFB needs some work


I have just tested the Abarth and the MK2 Escort so far but man I am surprised so far

I would suspect cars to be bit more tail happy though,

was playign m3 on wet road, and it was less tailhappy then AC version on trarmac with slicks

 

Havent tried the rain but the Escort felt quite good on dry gravel. These cars with premium gravel rally tires have more grip than people usually seem to think in my opinion.

 

And what about the sound of that M3 huh? My gosh I wanna marry the sound guy at Codies

 

really? I thought the sounds are bit dimmed ? .. perhaps that's to simulate helmet I suppose
(haven't really listened to external sounds much)

 

I used bonnet view most of the time. The sound is very different depending on which view you are using.

 

yeah I forget that sims have that ( AC )

 

i also find the sound very good but nothing like R3E in terms of volume, as you say, dimmed. dont think s3 has anything to worry about...im gonna try turning up my system volume but i think its a design choice of some kind (if bonnet cam is louder, ive only used the cockpit cams). and one i hope will be rethought.

i bought the escort last night & its a lot more fun than the mini. still seems very planted for rwd, & ffb needs a complete rewrite for this game to surpass RBR instead of being a 'grin & bear it bc its all we have' game.

 

I bought Fulvia and can't get the hang of it, too much understeer
I'm excited about that title, definitely step into right direction,

if they flesh out career same way they do in their F1 series, and keep the realistic take on physics and improve/fix surface difference s stuff, tires degradation and all that, fix FFB issues - which they say it's not really working properly yet

it's going to be THE BEST RALLY RACING GAME EVER @!!!! ( not most realistic, but BEST OVERALL , btw. who of those that say RBR is the best actually sat in real life rallye car? .. I'm always bit skeptical they people think it was the best just because it was very hard )

 

Dirt Rally is the perfect example for what you say. It is hard with a FFB wheel atm, not because of its high sim levels but because it just has wrong ffb (or I haven't set it properly yet). AC showed everyone that sim = natural feel -> ez to drive (hard to master).

 

i dont think rbr is best bc of its difficulty; i have no idea but i think the dirt dev was right when he said its too difficult & punishing. but its best bc the ffb is decent & the physics are reliable. honestly...i dont think its an incredibly high standard. whats incredible is that a game that came out for the original xbox (!!!) is still the best rally game available. that is utterly ridiculous... people seem to be VERY thirsty for a modern rally sim, i cant believe how many simracers bought this. my youtube inbox was flooded...i thought i was one of very few idiots to jump in but it seems most of us did lol. hopefully that $$$ goes to good places...

Doesn't matter if a game is made in 2030 or 1990. The physics from the real world are the same. Then what changes from game to game is the research, study, observation, knowledge, interpretation, and imagination that is put into recreating through a software the behavior of cars from real life and the different surfaces. This is a transcendental thing, it depends what dev companies want to do on their games. Of course with years and generations our collective knowledge advances.
Just because a game from 2002 has very good A.I, doesn't mean a game from 2032 will have the same quality level of A.I. It will only happen if is the same team behind it that was originally, or if a new dev team has the same knowledge and imagination on how to create it. Sorry, but is annoying when people compare such objective things between different ages. Is like saying that why has no one invented a better theory in 2015 than the theory of general relativity from 1915.

 

it's still early access, I would expect things to change quite a bit

 

Great graphics but with some of the worst physics I ever experienced in a driving game. Gt6 is light years ahead. 25€ wasted...

it does matter, because we've had over 10 years to develop from it. its abnormal for things to stagnate that long in tech fields.
