1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Discussing Driving Views

?

What type of camera view are you using?

  1. Interior

    92.5%
  2. Exterior

    3.6%
  3. I use both, depending of the situation

    3.9%

    No it isn't.

No, they are not. The closest view in games to the view they use is the bonnet cam. They don't render steering wheels on their displays.

    Example here:

VR is you're sitting in the car driving it. None of the cockpit views in racing games displayed on 2d screens achieve this.

If there's anything at all realistic about what you see when playing a sim that's because of billions of pounds of research and development by Oculus, Valve et al.
That's why sims are immersive today. All the cockpit views otherwise were just because people wanted to see pretty renderings of the inside of a car.

Although, as I said, if you minimise the distance between your toy wheel and the monitor then you can get reasonably close with triple screens but Weber shows what you should
really do if you value realism.

This is racing SIMULATOR, simulating sitting IN a race car, NOT simulating sitting on the hood of a race car.
Plus, you loose the sensory input of the car rotating.

You’ve written a lot here but aren’t really saying much.

Other than correctly stating that F1 sims don’t show a wheel, what are you actually saying?

I think you lack the understanding where the camera is even positioned and how the image is created

I expained you how that image is created and why there is no need to render the cocpit as well as there is no need to render your steering wheel in your sim using cocpit view with mathematical FOV for the same reason,
what is being rendered and shown doesnt describe camera placmet: here
first one is view for 24' monitor placed 70cm away from my eyes:

    20200229181632_1.jpg

    Now lets remove the car:

    20200229181706_1.jpg

its the same image with car turned on and off, if I could fit between me and the monitor an interior of a 911 I would see exacly the same thing -> the 2nd image placed right behind the 911s interior, well or at least as much as 70cm of that interior in my case,
but, that I have is a wheel, so I basicly use the first view and tuen off things that I have->the wheel, dashboard and other parts of it, they dont take much of the view I can fit on 24' but they are there so I render them and it doesnt matter where they are, in front or behindf the screen, I can render anything as long as it is in front of the camera (my head) also the things that are between screen and you for example interior, you will probably say that I cant and show me again that in this F1 simulator they dont do that so lissen up and watch that video again: where are the tyres of that F1 car, in front of the screen or behind the screen, they are beteen driver and the screen, just like parts of the interior in our case, they dont use them as real objects because their movement is to complicated to replicate compared to just the movement of the cocpit that they car replicate

    one more:
Lest put a 24' monitor 70cm away from me in a real car, where would it be and what would you be able to see in it of it was blanc inside, well this:

    Prezentacja1.jpg
    Prezentacaja1.jpg

It would be something arround this, of course all the distances aren't perfect but I think you will get the point ;)

XD, Do are you aware that VR uses 2D screens, just 2 of them to give you a 3D effect -> a bit different view for each eye, but still those are 2D images, so we can achive it with 2d screen, in fact 2 of them :D

    Private servers:

Let servers admins the choice to enforce cockpit view or not !

In our case, it is not something complicated that will impact anyone because the driver who registers for our championship or our endurance races is warned in advance. He adheres to it or not.

We are not looking at all costs to fill the servers, but to have quality races with all the drivers on equal footing.

    Public servers:

I think it would be good to put some servers with mandatory cockpit view.

Everyone will have a choice and the dilemma will go away on its own.

There will be enough servers anyway to keep everyone happy.

For me personally it's cockpit view. Always. I don't care what view you want to use, that's entirely your choice. Good racing is good racing whatever you're looking at and if you need to look at your bonnet or rear bumper to give me a decent race, so be it.

Everyone complaining about camera views and wanting X or Y view forced... Going to be really pissed when they spend all day looking for a server with the right forced view for them.

Currently I'm trying to use the cockpit view with FOV@35.
Some advice for LWW, LWW Gamma and LWW Smooth value? (my current setting is 10%,50%,50%)

    Thanks

Increase LWW a bit...to 20 I'd say. Default gamma and smooth is pretty good, IMO.

I'm really enjoying my view settings. I'm a bit lucky to have some decent equipment though and it's be hard to go back now.
I use cockpit view, but remove the wheel/hands. My wheel is right close to the monitor.
I don't really like when the dash is dead-locked to the screen (zero movement). I see this a lot on you-tube streamer vids, and whenever I try it, it feels so dead and basically like a video game. But with some mild movement, I quickly forget it's a game.
I am very happy I bought the Samsung CRG9 49" 32:9. I was in my (real) car today and just paying some attention to the natural view I had. I wear eyeglasses, and I noticed that the edges of my eyeglass frames seemed almost exactly to outline the view I had on the CRG9. Top/Bottom/Left/Right..... Actually, I was a bit surprised how almost exact those edges were aligned with what I can see on my monitor.
I've been using Track IR as well lately, and this for me is the icing-on-the-cake. It's setup pretty mild, since the 32:9 covers a lot. But I think I've found some good settings that feel very natural to me now.
The *only* thing I don't like, is that I can't quite get my monitor low enough so that I can see the gauges through the wheel rim, like in a real car. I think this has more to do with the way I've got it mounted right now, and probably I could get it better with a bit of reconfiguring the monitor mount.

You can achieve that with a monitor this large. I have a 34" 21:9 and I also achieved it. I have a Playseat Challenge and a sturdy HAMA monitor wall mount that allows for perfect adjustment in all directions. When looking straight, I only see the RPS/shift LEDs through the rim but when looking down slightly, tracking shifts the dashboard display into view.

    That's the best possible visibility.

I use what some call wrong but I feel is the best for me. I sacrifice "realism" for visibility and information.

I still think tv cam views offer the most challenge to the driver, its how most of us view real racing.

Its most challenging (must be best simulation:D) and most realistic so I hope we can force this on servers. :p
