So will Russel beat Bottas and Verstappen ?

 

Nah but I'm really pleased for him, it'll make the race weekend really interesting.

 

The car, overall internal processes, steering wheel and everything is so different team by team that it is almost impossible for him to beat them or finish at podium.
But we'll see.

 

Would have been nice to have a bet on Russell for a podium before the announcement, 501 to one odds generally

 

He might be able to snatch 3th, there is a huge gap between Verstappen and the next driver (whoever it will be)

 

Super excited, wanted it to be him or Hulk.

 

I think people are expecting way too much. Realistically a top 5 qualy and race result would be a decent effort. Bottas drives the W11 and interacts with the team week in week out, I really don’t see how Russell will be able to find the edge in 3 practice sessions. By Abu Dhabi I’d expect Russell to be much more confident and things could get interesting, assuming Lewis isn’t back by then.

 

Obviously we dont need to expect for him to beat Bottas or Verstappen.. He might battle for 3th with Albon. I think he will beat the other teams, that car has a second over the other teams.. assuming he will have a 0,5-1,0 disadvantage for not knowing the car that well.
Bear in mind that he used to a car with not a lot of grip and suddenly he will have plenty.

Let me tell you a story about BoP …
What people think how it works and how it is advertised to work:
You have many many different Car Manufactures. All of them putting a lot of effort and money into a new Race Car. After months and Years of blood sweating Development and Testing burning another million and millions of Bucks putting the limits of the Cars, the Drivers and maxing out the regulations they all have great well performing and handling new Race Cars. All of them coming together and Testing their new Products. Some tiny little adjustments are done, putting here some more or less kg´s in the cars and here some few hp less or more in that car. At the end of that test everyone is on the same level lap time wise. Everyone is happy and we Race together down to our days and to the end of time.
How it actually works:
Basically the same story except of the fact that there is one more manufacturer. One more manufacturer who is because of his chassis concept back from the medieval just not able to keep up with the other cars inside the same Reglement. So what do we do with this manufacturer. You could think when you are just not able to keep up as the only one in this scenario you should just go home, overthink your product if it is still the right way to go and then strike back with a revolution to show everyone how great you really are. But reality is unfortunately different. Because of this medieval chassis concept the Manufacturer is not able to put bigger engines inside the chassis because it is basically based behind the rear axle and would cause even more chassis movement. We allow this special Manufacturer to raise their rpm´s to get more hp out of the engine that they can keep up with the other cars on track on the straights but only because all the other cars get less hp again. You think unfair for the others? Maybe but the story is not finished so far. The higher Revs and hp output of the engine now causes a higher fuel consumption. So what do we do now? Yes we allow bigger fuel tanks but only for this car. Not the others obviously. Alright so what comes next. Because of the higher fuel load the car doesn’t perform as before because it is to heavy now and in general the car still cannot keep up with the others Cars on Track. What do we do? Yes you got it, we allow them to get more ballast out of the car and make it the lightest in the GRID. Again not the others. Oh moment I forget, because of this crap chassis/engine concept the Manufacturer is not able to have a proper diffuser below the car. Hmm let me think… Yes everyone else get restricted by the diffusor construction this should solve the problem. Finally every other car drives like crap because it only got downgraded in many different things but one Car drives now pretty well and is winning everywhere all over the world. Every spectator infront of the Telly and on the Track is happy about that Great Car. The one special Manufacturer congratulates every other Manufacturer that they constructed great cars but they are just not good enough to keep up with the Porsche.

Yes and the only Honda NSX is on Pole.
