1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I think they should drop Unreal because it basically forces you to buy nVidia. I don't like nVidia.

I totally disagree. I have a custom engine.ini to max more things like shadows and lods etc. Run at 2K with everything on ultra and full grids in the rain etc it stays above 60, and sits around 90-100. Specs in my signature.

What did you set the sharpening in NV cp to? I would like to try this as I run at 150 res

After spending the week end enjoying all the free content playing R3E and it was good fun, I was totally amazed as I launch ACC earlier for a race at Hungaroring at how Amazing ACC looked in my Rift, how great the driving felt and how much fun the AI is to race.
Other SIM can be fun but ACC is really raising the bar. We are so fortunate to have ACC.

I had it set to 150 before and was getting something like 45 FPS. Strangely, that looked just fine and the low frame rate wasn’t noticeable really. But now I can get 75 to 80 consistently

Now I get it, thank you!

Yes, the R3E problem is the DX9 in almost 2020. If I were dev, I would have taken up this issue a long time ago - almost every user is experiencing performance problems.

I have taken a look at this and not sure what settings to do in the sharpening tool.
Do I just enable it and leave sharpen to 0.5 and grain 0.17? do I enable GPU scaling?

the info that I got from the post at RD was to set sharpen at 0.75 and film grain at 0.50. No need to check gpu scaling.

It's only two sliders so I suggest for you to just try them out.

It's sad this thread died. el_goe is exactly right. In fact, Epic developed their forward render path for UE4 in order to develop Robo Recall and recommends its use for VR titles. I'm here from Google a year later, and I'm also very curious why it wasn't tried out for ACC.

Fact is Kunos looks at numbers when making decisions and those numbers said a staggeringly small amount of players use VR. Now, Deferred opened for a lot of the visual juice we praise the game for having. The lighting, screen space effects. post processing and other goodies. I'm sure the game would look good with Forward rendering too but why hold back because of 10% of your playerbase will have to sacrifice a lot of even basic visual features in order to render the image twice at 1440p with a really wide view frostum.

While I'd like to see the thing improved I don't believe there is that much left to gain unless Kunos makes some really drastic changes. Upgrading the engine to implement new features from Epic is almost certain to break the game in many ways as features current systems rely on is altered and then you get a whole can of worms with bugs and crashes.

I love ACC but currently I use AC more, I spend hours circling a circuit using VR. By the time I have a good VR experience with ACC I am sure that I will not drive otherwise, any improvement for VR will be greatly appreciated for me.

Iracing implemented Single Pass Stereo by Nvidia while having great performance in it before that, so SOMEHOW they DO SEE the benefit of implementing it in VR, perhaps number of VR players grows faster then non VR, or Iracing devs like to play in VR more then ACC devs. I don't think I ever saw one of ACC devs praising VR, leave alone play in it. They have curved monitors which I don't find attractive at all. Keep in mind, in Iracing one can have 90fps with HP Reverb which has huge resolution boost (4 times original Oculus Rift), while in ACC I have to drop many settings to be able to reach 90fps in original Oculus. VR player will have better performance in Iracing then in ACC and we might get situation when tail wags the dog - VR players move from ACC to other more robust VR platforms and that is how ACC devs get fewer VR players then for instance Iracing and think that while we have so few VR players, why bother?. Anyway, its their title, they can do with it what they see fit.
