1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Do ffb strength settings influence an ffb wheel's lifespan?

I am replacing my G27 after three years. I am a little disappointed that it did not last longer as I do not believe I hammer the wheel but I am wondering: will milder FFB settings, requiring less work from the motor, improve the next wheel's duration? Many thanks.

definitely. using stronger ffb shortens the life of inside parts simply because there is more work, more load on them. even on the charger too obviously.

you didn't mention how often you used it but 3 years is a pretty good time span for a wheel. I could say that you got the worth of your money.

In general terms, I'd say yes. The harder the motor is pushed, the more resistance involved, the more heat it makes. Heat is certainly a major factor in determining durability. The Logitech wheels have a very good track record for durability but, they are not very powerful and have little ability to disperse heat. If you want to run a wheel at higher settings, you need a wheel with a very robust motor. It's also important to understand the point where clipping occurs. There is an optimum FFB setting to have strong FFB with little to no signal loss. Beyond that point, the FFB performance degrades and the quality or "feel" is reduced. It is possible that using a wheel with very high levels of clipping can damage the wheel components/electronics and shorten the life span. The downside to stronger wheels is the cost as it is a progressive scale that rises quickly.

Here is a thread that goes into some depth regarding FFB strength and wheel durability.

I reinstalled AC after RC1.0. What were the files to edit to make the G27 run less on and off track rumble and genrally be kinder to itself, can't find the info.

I am still experimenting, but the FFB feels soft to me, not enough resistance.

Can anyone who is happy with his G27 FFB in AC please post their recommended settings in both the Profiler and in the Controls/Advanced/FFB section of the game? I will then have a baseline from which to experiment with per-car FFB Gain and Damper settings in the setup menus. Many thanks.

@Luigi Gianni Vollaro try reducing kerb and slip settings first.

Yes. Like all moving parts, there's wear. I've had my DFGT for six years now and it's still going strong. I always set FFB on the basis of what is the weakest setting that will let me feel the car? That's not to everyone's taste, but if you prefer strong FFB shaking then expect things to break faster.

I can do without the juddering and extraneous special effects but I like some resistance in the wheel, so my gain settings are creeping up but I am attempting to keep the others on the moderate side. What to do with damper, I wonder?

For optimized FFB settings have a look at my app. That should give you a good baseline to work from.

You can actually destroy a wheel if your FFB is set very high(Well over 100%). It can eat itself up in a few hours of use. I'm one that prefers the weakest settings I can get away with. I can't stand cogging at any level.

After only 1,5 years I had smoke coming out of my G27, motors burned out :p. With just normal usage...
I got it replaced under warranty though, my current wheel, which is 9 months old rattles violently when steering to the right and hitting the curbs. I hope it will last longer.
