1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

No, not in AC. As one of the devs said... without functional headlights/night time it would mean nobody will use the lights unless cruising around.

take a long straight. go down there with and withouth lights. try with against or with the wind. you'll see :)

If they had an aero effect you would see people map brake to lights for an extra air brake. :D

Could get quite distracting when cadence braking :p

  8. it's one of the things that I'd love to get some feedback from users.
Adding the additive aero resistance is pretty easy, I don't know if it makes sense from a game design perspective tho.. because the result would be that everybody will be going with headlights off all the time.

    opinions?

NOTE: oh and NO.. adding an option for it is not an option :) It's either yay or nay

  9. I'd say yay, mostly for the modding ability to have an 'aero button' (that's not tied to DRS zones/brake pedal).

  10. lol that's really the wrong reason for having it tho :)

Yay, do it! I always liked to just assume there is extra drag and kept those lights turned off. Love to have little details like this in a sim :)

  12. Yep, absolutely.

As for actual gameplay, I don't believe it'll make or break many races. It's not like the headlights have any useful function anyway, so turning them off to gain a couple mph is no big deal.
For any serious racing where a small detail like that would actually effect the outcome, I'm sure a quick conversation before hand laying out the ground rules (eg. lights on for this race) will suffice for most sensible users.

There aren't many places where it would matter much though. (ok, in the Miata NA maybe a bit more)

But tracks we have, Nordschleife on Döttinger Höhe and maybe Schwedenkreuz, Monza and Mugello.

Though the other tracks I don't think it would have a big enough effect to be worth it, or would it?

  14. Always err on the side of realism. I vote Yay

  15. That's kinda the problem.
The argument against it, is that its a small enough effect that would most likely go unnoticed, negating the effort implementing it. The argument for it is its a small enough effect that it shouldn't compromise gameplay in most cases, so go ahead and implement it

Which is why I put forth my first point in order to sway the vote - It adds a new fun tool for modders, which is never a bad thing :)

This would be a mastertool for BM'ing slower drivers when overtaking them, I'd call it "inverted-Fujiwara".

In real life they do, yes, but to what extend?
On the salt lake trying to break a speed record when every cent of a second counts, ok, maybe, but when lapping with a Miata, there is a million of other thing you can do before worrying if the lights are on or off, to improve your lap time.
    The additional drag is minuscule.

Does anybody have some figures on how much the drag would change?

    Yes please. :)

No real reason, I just think it'd be cool to take it into account.
Also interested in how big the effect would be.
