1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Does input-lag make driving/drifting easier?

I turned off framerate-limiter in order to eliminate microstutters. I thought this would only be a change which affects graphics but strangely the steering feels totally different (although I haven't changed controller-settings).

Maybe I have some kind of input-lag or it is the other way round, but suddenly the driving and drifting feels very easy (I don't want to say arcadish) but I can catch every slide (maybe too easy??).

Might it be a sign of input lag if driving gets too easy (arcadish?) and shouldn't input-lag or maybe ffb-clipping make the driving/drifting more difficult?

It doesn't sound like input lag as that ,for me , makes driving a challenge as your in put 'lags' to the car then when it finally does receive the input its already time to counter steer because the signal was late late so you over stere but then it reacts now your in a back n forth battle over correcting all the way .. it sounds more like you have one of the aids on ? IDK ..

To check input lag go to cockpit view where you can see your wheel and the in-game car wheel watch as you turn your wheel (not while the car is moving) and see if the cars wheel follows exactly along with yours , if theirs a 1/2 second delay or more you have input lag ..

    hope this helps ! ;-)

Remember one thing when measuring input lag from cockpit:

IIRC all cars in AC have different than 900 degrees steering, and the steering wheel diameter is most likely not matched to yours. Those two factors usually means that you appear to have a little input lag, very little, even when you don't have much and you've made all the necessary tweaks, because the wheels don't travel in the same way.

There's a fix for that, you can set virtual steering degrees lock, so is for the steering wheel animation. Goes from 0 to 450º, and is considered from center to side. So for example you limit it at 135º, the steering animation will be limited to 270º. You can find it in video options - view.
Another thing to minimize/remove input delay of the steering and ffb, is to set max_frame_latency 1 in graphics.ini from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg

No I play in 3D so I need 120Hz monitor and in the past I limited to 60 FPS, not it's only possible to the fucxing 58,8 FPS, which makes a flat red line in the render-app but also introduced micro-stutters.
But thank you very much for the linked article - very interesting, so indeed the graphics-settings (FPS) can affect the steering... Didn't know that...

Thank you. Instead of the max_frame_latency 1 I use max prerendered frames = 1 in nvidia inspector, I think it's the same effect...
No, it's not a problem with the steering-limits, the difference between difficult steering and arcadish steering is really only the changing of the framerate-limit from 58,8 FPS to "no FPS limit"...

Just so you know, all sim steering is "arcadish" and the easier it gets to catch slides, the more realistic it becomes.

By switching from 60fps to 120fps (on 120hz screen) you will lower your input lag by ~8ms. Lower input lag = better control.

I think he has a point , as dev's try to simulate the sliding of a tire in a sim it becomes something un natural in some instances .. I would agree that its easyer (for me) to control a slide like a power slide in my real car ,then it is in any of the sim's I play ..

The snap over steer and the rear end swinging around in sim's are sometimes a un wanted effect of the psyx trying to perform ther xoxoxox instructions ,they take over no matter what input you give at some point ..

I think a lot of the slow speed stuff is related as well ,like loosing the rear at unrealistically slow speeds in a car that I would have to rely gass it and build a lot more momentum to force a spin IRL ....
maybe it's a result of dev's trying to perfect the feel when at the limit in a sim IDK that's for sure .. ;-)

I know in a real car I can get it sidewise and control it with my foot and 1 hand ,sawing the wheel back n forth to maintain .. In AC you can almost do it as easy ..

w/o G's to feel ,or the horse power to feel' when spinning the rear its just the way it is in sims right now..

maybe future games might have a better grip on this as technology advances ..??
