1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Engine performance is now dependent on air density/temperature

    Any explanation?

Like as example the best Air Temp for engine performance is +20

If Air Temp is +15 or +25 it decrease engine power for -5% as example...

As physics would have it, that is correct. Colder weather will have your engine run better.

  4. Higher Temperatures decrease Air Density, which reduces engine performance--as lower Air Density has less Oxygen which is needed to burn the fuel.

    Lower Temperatures do the opposite.

Higher Altitudes also decrease Air Density. The question is, does AC model Altitude?

Question is about exact numbers :) what is ideal air temp for best engine performance in Assetto Corsa?

When engine start to lose performance?

  7. That would be the coldest temperature possible; that's the maximum amount of Air Density/oxygen...

Colder the better, frankly. It's all about air density and colder = denser. Denser = more oxygen molecules for the same given volume. More oxygen molecules means more fuel can be burned, and more fuel burned is more power. :)

IRL I can tell you that my WRX puts about 360hp to the wheels in the summer (~90F) and up to about 400 in the winter. (~20F)

As they say though, if you go as low as possible, it will be the best performance for the reasons stated. If you want some formula, as I said, maybe Aris wanna share. Maybe not.

Don't know how it's implemented in game, but this is the formula by the book. When confronting two temperatures, if T'a is lower than Ta, the engine produces more power.

Lol I just want to know what is the best Air Temp in the game for engine performance... is it 21, 22, 20, 19... or what :)

This is interesting too - the effect of air density on downforce:

C'mon, using Rigel's equation, you can work it out yourself ;)

  16. Ok, well most likely Aris' answer is going to be "as low temp as possible." As that's what it would be IRL. And that's what Kunos does. They model IRL... Are you new around here? Lol, kidding.

Hasn't the track temp always been affected? Hence grip affected? I guess its all a give and take as to how much HP you want for the grip to reach an optimum.

  20. WallyM

    WallyM Alien

I think track temp only influenced grip by its effect on tyre temps.

  21. twizzR

    twizzR Racer

It would affect the flex of the tyre which in turn affects rolling resistance and in turn affects top speed?

I wouldn't even call myself an armchair physics guy so someone else can probably ensure something like that.
