1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Footwork (clutch & heel-toe) in GT1 cars

For the Porsche 911 GT1 and Maserati MC12 GT1, what is the proper technique for shifting in these cars? If I flat shift them like a GT3 car, I don't see any over-rev occurring, but I'm not sure if this is "proper" technique for these cars. Also, on downshifts, I noticed there is no rev-match. Should I use the clutch on downshift, or just heel-toe to rev-match on downshifts?

For clarity, I'm interested in maintaining realism, not necessarily what is fastest.

EDIT: I have a T300 with paddles, but no H-pattern shifter, and a 3-pedal set. In manual transmission cars, I turn off auto-clutch/aut0-blip and heel-toe myself, even though I'm shifting with the paddles. It's the best I can do until I get an H-pattern.

An onboard video I seen showed heal-toe + clutch on downshifts, and what appears to be flat footed upshifts. This wasn't a race during the 05-06 seasons so it's possible the downshifts were done clutchless with just a blip of the throttle in competition.

I found this great article on shifting sequential dogbox manuals. I'm not sure if this applies to all sequential manuals though.

I think I'm going to use the "best" technique outline in that document. Obviously I can't preload the shifter, but I can time my throttle lifts pretty well by leading with the paddle a bit. The car drives really smoothly when shifted like this. One area I can improve is by downshifting later in the braking zone, when the RPMs are lower.

You can flat upshift those cars, no need to lift. On downshifts, using the clutch is technically not necessary, you only need to blip the throttle to keep the car from locking the rears. Although using the clutch on downshifts is good practice, as it gives you more control over car behaviour and helps eliminate problems that occur if your timing goes wrong. Afaik in real life it also helps to keep the gearbox alive longer, but that is no issue in AC.

@Gevatter , do you happen to know if they flat shifted the cars in real life? The reason I ask is, many cars can be flat-shifted in AC, but shouldn't be. Just curious which is the case here: can or should :)

On upshifts the electronics cut the clutch in for the driver and cut the throttle. It's the same you do with your feet in a stick shifter, only muuuuch faster :) Clutching manually or lifting usually only looses you time in those cars. Take this video for example, but not as absolute proof. Clutch&blip on downshifts, flat on upshifts:

That's awesome! Thanks for digging up that video! It's much clearer than the others I found.
