Force Feedback for Gear Change

Would be nice to have some feedback through the wheel for gear change, like in pCars2.
Simvibe works fine sending this to transducer but not everyone has one.
Even better if it's adjustable like ABS effect.

It’s just a canned effect... imo it’s not needed in the wheel. It’s just a distraction, in a transducer makes some sense.

"Canned" in what sense let me ask?
It's in telemetry, meaning produced by physics engine. If there is a slider you can adjust it to your liking or completely turn off similar to ABS effect.
Should be pretty nice immersion enhancement.

In the sense that you don’t feel it in your real car. Maybe good for immersion, yes.

What kind of effect does a gear change give you?

IIRC, R3E has such an effect in the FFB that can be added.

If you use a transducer under the seat you get a really nice thud through your chair every time you change gear ,,,,, it's an excellent addition for immersion so i'm guessing a thud in the wheel feels just as good ,,, Also gear change effect on a motion rig feels bloody fantastic ,,,, i might stick a transducer on my rig again at some point as i do miss that thud and wot not,

I did at one point ask the guys at Fanaleds if they could add a gear change thud effect into their software for the rumble motors in the fanatec rim's but they didn't seem too interested by it.

I rather meant what kind of a gear change effect you notice on a real car. Just the jolt effect from the ignition cut off?

Why do you ask ,,,have you never driven a real car?

Not all effects simulated via FFB in sim racing titles come straight from the steering rack in real life, if that's what you mean.

No, i have never driven a car with a sequential gearbox.

Also, i'm rather trying to find out what the OP wants to have simulated, in detail. The jolt from the car, when you get off the power? Why would you want to have that simulated? It won't help you to figure out the state of grip, or anything related to the actual driving anyway.

Ask Lord Kunos, he told me all effects in the FFB come straight from the steering rack.

Having such effects synced across various feedback channels can have a very immersive impact. Combining SimVibe engine vibes through both the seat / chassis mounted transducers and steering (AccuForce Wheel) increases the dynamics; the same may be true of shift-bumps and other effects. When it all works together in a coordinated way, it enhances the immersion a significantly.

I use a BK-LFE under my seat and that large transducer carries quite a punch for large road bumps, impacts and shift bumps; the shift bumps through the seat instill a sense of power-surge as the gears engage. Having the effect felt through the steering as well can reinforce the effect and add an additional layer with each one improving the system's effectiveness toward convincing our brain that what we experience in Sim's is almost real. Combining these feedback cues with something like VR takes the experience even further. Add motion - further still; it's all about the layers.

We know engine torque can affect and be felt through the handling in certain cars so it's not inconceivable that it could be felt through the steering.

Playing Forza 7 with EmuWheel and OSW at the moment and FFB emulated gear change effect is just sublime.
Game does not support SimVibe but what they do via steering wheel is tons better than what I can get via SimVibe in AC.
Gear shift duration, tone and strength all vary across the cars, depending on era and gearbox. Combine with perfectly matching engine barking it's just absolutely brilliant and immersive.
Please add this effect to ACC, adjustable if possible to suit everyone's taste and HW.
