1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

How do you use manual transmission and drift like Takumi from Initial D on the mountain?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat Room' started by TakumiFanNumberWan, Oct 6, 2019.

  1. Title contains all info. I have a G29 controller but don't know how to use the stick and clutch, and I can't drift like Takumi on Mt. Akina 2017 map.

    In a game it's easy.
Based on a car gearbox, you use the clutch every time. Slowly when driving away in first, a bit faster but still careful when shifting down (you can give some gas with your heel or side of your foot to be able to let the clutch out faster, but make sure you're off the gas when letting the clutch out again.), and fast when shifting up getting maximum speed. If you time the upshifts well you don't need to be careful with the clutch at all when upshifting.

To start a predictable drift, you brake a bit early so you can shift to the right gear for a turn. Every turn has a gear which it can be taken best in, with lower gears for sharper turns.
To keep it predictable, don't go in too fast because you'll understeer. With some potential left in the front (so don't use all available front grip), go full throttle, the rear will come around. Don't correct too much because you will end the slide or even pendulum back out of the turn.

There are some other options to start a drift. You can kick the clutch for a short moment to get the rear out, you can pull the handbrake or for a less strong effect you can use the footbrake.
In general, you use the gas to control the drift. You use more gas to increase the radius of your turn (go more outward), you can use the handbrake to decrease the radius of the turn. (inward)
The footbrake is useless for control once you are sliding, but useful at the start of one.

To get better you just need to deliver more virtual tofu (practice)
