How does the clutch work ?

Hello,
I change gears with the paddels.
I hafe an axis for the clutch.
I disabled the automatic clutch in the game options.

1. But, i still can change gears without using the clutch (even with full throttle) .
2. In my opinion that shouldn‘t be possible.

So:
is 1. normal ?
2. am i right ?
3. how the clutch works in the game
4. how can i fix my settings to aprove the realism.

3. it depends on the car. Some cars have manual transmission with H-pattern, in these you need the clutch for shifting. If you try without clutch you might get a grinding gears sound and gearbox damage.
Other cars have sequential gearbox, use the clutch for launching the car. Others have automatic gearbox, no manual clutch present in these cars, you only need the paddles and everything is realistic and easy.
btw. in the loading screens it shows what kind of gearbox the car has equipped.

4. If you don't use a H-shifter it might be better to leave the clutch on automatic, shifting with clutch between paddleshifts is not realistic for any car. Not sure but I think you can still override the autoclutch with your clutch axis and use it for launching the car. I recommend to set some up- and bottom-end deadzone for the clutch axis, this makes it easier to use and also more realistic.
