1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

PHYSICS Introducing the 5 point tyre model for ACC!

I don't get the negativity - devs are acknowledging the community feedback, but more importantly making the effort to find solutions without cutting corners.
Some of the feedback in this thread only serves to discourage the Dev's from sharing the detail of what they're doing with the community...

I'm no self proclaimed / alien, but I have always felt that the cars in ACC felt the most realistic from all the sims I've 'driven'.
This comes down to the physics, FFB, and yes the single point tyre / collusion model , which despite the curb issues still feels really good in comparison to some other sims. Heck, there is even a poll asking for the new model to be ported to AC - without anyone having tried it... this judgement has to be based on the current single point model.

All the more reason to appreciate that this time they opted not to touch the physics mesh, don't you think ?

rFactor 2 tire model uses contact patch. Area of tire contact instead of points. Guess it`s more reliable that way.. And any news about release date?

Aren't contact patch and collision detection 2 different things?

To get the tyre footprint in real time and how the tyre model interacts with the track model, I think they are different thing. With one point, camber, load and other data you can get the footprint. Nevertheless, let's wait for Aris explanation (after Spa w-e).

I also understood it as two different things.
Or am I wrong thinking the contact patch is what gives the different tyre temperatures (IMO) and wear, for instance, while collision is interaction of the tyre with the track which causes suspension movements and FFB, for example? - but they are related to each other, meaning different tyre temperatures cause changes in FFB (feeling of more or less grip, is one) and, also, different suspension movements cause changes in tyre temperature (oversteer heating the rear tyres, is another).

I am not sure.. I thougth they would be the same. If you play watch the 0.45 and 1.43 and 1.58 min mark at 0.25x speed, you can see contact patch enlarges with the tire side touches to the curve. It`s possible to calculate a guessed contact patch area with a single collision point ofcourse but it would be better to hear from a dev aynway, I am just guessing.

There is a another YT video on the RD thread on this topic that clearly shows that the rF2 contact patch doesn't use single point contact. I won't post it here as the title is inflammatory and not really appropriate on Kunos own forums. It would be strange if rF2 used single point contact as rF1 doesn't use single point contact.

    TL;DR

@Aristotelis I was wondering about how this update will affect setups. Will our old setups still be usable with the new update, or will we have to adjust/delete them?

Providing it can be easily carried over in the future will any new physics learning/methods (ie. suspension, tyres, Ai) from ACC be carried over to AC or is AC completely wrapped up?

Don't want to be mean, but do you really expect any answer other than "nope"?

Kunos won't "break" the game changing the physics now (poor Aris ).
Not to mention all the mods...

I don't understand why people expect Kunos to be supporting/developing AC at this point. o_O
    Their focus now is ACC.

I don't expect it. It was just a question...

I honestly don't know. I wouldn't ask the question otherwise. I presume 'No' however I am not in their heads.

No sh!t. That's why i said in the future and only if it easy enough... It could be something as small as an update of one parameter (ie. engine, tc, suspension) of new data from the manufacturer.

In the future I expect them to move on to AC2 or something. :)

Anyway, I hope Kunos will answer you, good luck. ;)

I guess now I could say I don't understand why people expect Kunos to move on to AC2... :p:D

By the way, the 5 points will affect also how track limits are detected, right? Means there is half tyre more before it triggers?

I would expect the width of the tire to be included in the detection, as in having to exceed the track limits with the contact point plus a small margin?

Not necessarily if the current contact point is center of the tyre and the distance to the edge of tyres arent a mystery.

Track limits I think are already pretty well done and I havent had a single warning in race or disallowed lap in qualy since v1 that seemed to be a bad call. Really no reason to make this more leniant then it already is and also no need to really make it stricter as it seems to match reasonably well to the real series.

The only people being caught out by it are those abusing track limits, hard to say the penalties or warning are too harsh in the current implementation. ;)
