Yes, the carrer thing is a long on going event for me as I need almost a full day for one of those long events in the extreme series and I still like to drive other cars and tracks inbetween.
I don't have every week time to race, also now I have to start again to brake with the left foot on paddle cars, as my right foot can't take a full race weekend, as I learned the hard way. (Titanium plates on my heel)

 

Great website you have created! I just wanted to ask if different color schemes are planned, the cyan and bright orange combination is very tiresome to look at for me.

Damn, can't get it save through arabbiata on my best lap without flying out I got 1:56. Feels very nice but the arabbiata 2 catches my out all the time, sometimes the 1.
Even with 1 more rear wing and soft tires.
I'm just not a very good driver.

Hey everyone,

A big thank you to every simracer that have uploaded their setups to the site!

I now have a very preliminary version (lets say version 0.1) of The Setup Market app almost ready for launch. As of now, it only allows to download setups, no uploading yet (but I'm working on it!). I'm planning to add a lot more functionalities eventually, but I think that it could still be pretty useful in its current state.

I would love to have some of you to try it and report any bugs/crashes/suggestions. PM me if you are interested!

hey i think netracingeuro user is trying to do a shameless promotion of his site on the setupmarket site.
many cloned setups listed, clean it when you have a chance.. and maybe ban his account.. qualy ones are pretty much same wings etc.
it could be that he didnt see the upload confirmation in the app... idk. probly not.

 

Yeah I think its either this or he should have update it instead of uploading it multiple times... either way, its pollution indeed, I'll see what I can do with that. Thanks for reporting.

 

had that bug occuring with me 2 times where it don't find a newly just made setup to upload , it occured at spa and nords undurance.
Had to relog on server to be able to upload the setup.
This didn't happened not even once in beta phase tho.

@Mathieu Labbé Loving you're work on the website and the app.
I have a small suggestion which you may be able to implement which may help those like me who are unable to set cars up themselves.
I think a "compare to stock" button which highlights the difference in a setup from the default setup so its easy to see which setting have been changed would help me learn.
Just a thought

 

I'd love to implement that, good suggestion. The setup overview on the site is not as good as I want it to be cause I'm simply reading the uploaded ini file and since its mostly contextual values (front ARB at '2' doesn't make any sense without context, real value would be better but its nowhere to be found). But this instead would make a lot of sense.

I dont have much time to invest in that atm unfortunately, but I'll keep that in mind for sure. Thanks!

 

Yeah, I've looked at the setup ini's and I see what you mean.
I do sometime have good ideas, I might share some more if any are suitable....

 

Is it just me or is thesetupmarket not working properly.

the app hasn't been able to connect for a couple of days and the website never seems to populate the table anymore.
wasnt very fast to populate previously, but even after 5 minutes there are still no setups and the drop downs dont populate with cars or tracks.

I think the server maybe has a problem which needs resolving.
(apart from the obvious issues of multiple copies of the same setup, setups posted with no username to name a couple off the top of my head)

Just checked this morning and the website seems to be working again, not sure about the app

To highlight a potential cause of the issue though, there are many duplicate setup uploads.
yesterday s2kjean has uploaded a z4 gt3 setup for vallelunga 6 times and a ford escort mk1 setup for brands hatch 6 times.
of the 8000+ setups in the database, there could be as much as 5-10% duplication which will obviously slow the whole system down.

Many thanks to mathieu for providing this service, but at this point it maybe a victim of its own success

 

5-10% is probably right, might even be greater than that. I wasnted to do a cleanup a while ago, but I would need to build the functionality to delete from my admin interface first, otherwise I would prolly die after 20

The website is not able to render anymore because its not paginated so the api call timeouts. I have a branch with pagination working, I should take the time to finish it.

My own minimum requirement at the moment is the app. As long as it still works I can sleep at night (well, when my kids let me).

Thanks for the heads up though, I'm still stoked that people are using it to this day

 

Of course Im still using it...Where else will I get setups?

from what I can tell its just a huge json file driving the website (nearly 6mb) would an SQL DB not be more efficient (and potentially easier to maintain/manage)?

I'm not a web developer btw so not trying to "teach grandma to suck eggs"

 

The source of the DB doesnt really matter, its still going to be consumed as json by the browser. All I need to do is make that call parametrizeable (already is) and then implement the front end to use it (ground work was done 1.5 years ago )

I'm in parental leave until september 11 so, I might find some time until then
