1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Kissmyrank: gt2 realism public server

As some of you know, we (I and some friends) are running a server called Kissmyrank: GT Realism.
We'll use this thread to give you all the relevant information about it and to keep an open channel with the drivers that enjoy racing on it.

    Intro

While it is understandable that most multiplayer servers tend to force 100% grip and to disable damage to maximize the number of players, we think that the beauty of a simulation is trying to replicate the experience that real GT2 drivers like Fisichella have in these powerful cars on a real track.

    Key Features

    Grip
Since, it is safe to assume that we are not any better than professional drivers that do this for living, we set the grip level so that the fastest drivers on track can barely replicate their times in a quali session (this is of course driver dependent and subject to error but the goal is to get as close as possible to that).

    Track Evolution
Track evolution is enabled but the track grips slowly just like in real life.
To rubber the track, you need quite a few cars running.

    Damage
Tyre damage is an important part of the simulation. If damage is disabled, drivers are allowed to abuse of their tyres without any consequence. This allows for unrealistic times and for reckless driving.
We believe that preventing damage is not the best way to achieve clean racing. Quite the contrary. Motorsport is dangerous. Damage is part of racing and one of the reasons why everyone should respect the car, the track and other drivers. This is why on our server it is set to 100%.

    45 Mins Quali

Racing takes time. Our server is not set for quick races. A long quali allows us to spot potential problems for the race and it allows for the track-day atmosphere that we're looking for in a racing game.
It also helps us to build some grip for the race.

    24 Laps Race

While quick races can be fun, long races are more fair to everyone because they allow people that make a mistake to recover. They also require car and tyre management which, in our opinion, are what makes a sim worth playing as opposed to arcade games.

    Tyre blankets

Tyre blankets are on because there is no chance to warm the tyres up during the formation lap and also to keep the track clear during qualify.

    Assists
Only factory TC and ABS are allowed on our server. We target experienced drivers that can drive with low grip and it would not make much sense to allow all sorts of assists.

    Tracks
We change track every week (more or less). The goal is to learn all of them and to make new setups for these. At the moment we run pre-DLC tracks to allow everyone to join.

    Cars
    At the moment we run pre-DLC GT cars to allow everyone to join (ferrari 458 GT2, bmw m3 GT2, p4/5, z4 gt3, mp4 gt3, sls gt3).

    Penalties
Penalties are enabled in order to prevent track cutting and other abuses. We understand that some people might not like the actual penalty system but it's not really a problem as long as you keep the car on the track.

    Things that we appreciate

    Fair drivers

Speed is not everything on our server. Being fair to other driver is.
Racing accidents can happen. If it happens, excuse yourself and give back the place.

Drivers that get to the end of the race

Things that don't go your way are not a good reason to leave a race. When something wrong happens, a good driver tries to fix it and pushes harder to recover.
Even if you're last, getting to the end of the race can teach you something (regarding track evo, tyre usage, fuel etc.) and it's something that makes you a driver worth racing with (if not a faster driver).

Things that might result in a ban

    Reckless/dangerous driving

This includes not using brakes at turn 1, crashing to avoid overtakes, not looking when exiting the pits, stopping in the middle of the track, not giving the place back when you caused an accident during an overtake etc..

Racing in the quali outlap and ruing other drivers' hotlaps
It is not respectful and pretty stupid to race in quali. It will ruin both your lap and the other driver's lap.

    Ignoring blue flags

When you see a blue flag please move out of the racing line and let the other car pass.
There is no point racing cars that are lapping you. Keeping them behind will not make you a better driver and it will only get you banned.

    Racing front-runners when you're lapped
If you are a few laps behind there is no point to race front-runners unless you can cleanly unlap yourself because there is a huge delta between you and them (because they have a damaged car or used tyres).
In this latter case, if you try to unlap yourself, please be sure that you don't touch their car or you might get banned.

    Ragequitting too much
People that tend to ragequit too much before the race is over take server slots which can be given to more serious players. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't disconnect when you feel like to but please notice that we might ban people that repeatedly abuse of the disconnect button.

Feel free to post a replay or a video of drivers that you think should be banned.

    Tips
    • The lower grip conditions can be pretty hard at the beginning and might require a different setup. However if you improve your setup and practice a little, the track will not be more slippery than real asphalt. If you master these conditions, you will be able to drive in any other server.
    • When damage is on and the race is long, the lap time on a single lap is not everything. Some setups might make you quick but destroy your tyres on the long run.
    • When damage is enabled, Supersofts might not be good tyres to build your setup. Start with Softs to learn the track. These tyres give you a good grip and are less prone to damage. This mean that you can better evaluate your car behavior over a few laps.
    • The quali is long, you have time to work on the setup.
    • Pit is not mandatory in a race. On some tracks Medium tyres can easily last the 24 laps required for the race if you respect them enough.
    • A tyre temperature application can give you useful hints about your tyres and help you spot issues with your setup.
    • When the grip is low the brake balance goes more to the rear. Set the buttons on your wheel to adjust the brake bias since the track evolves while you drive.
    • If you plan to use the Medium tyres, use some of the quali time to practice with full load and Mediums. On some tracks, it's not easy to warm them up and there is a big delta with Softs.
    • When using Medium tyres in the race it's important to keep your momentum. On tracks with lots of slow corners and only few fast corners (like Nurburgring GP), a mistake might cost you precious degrees on your tyres and you might feel less grip in the next corners.
    • When your tyres are outside the optimal range, try to drive carefully or they might get damage. This damage decreases your performance for the rest of the race.
    • Never touch another car. When driving a GT2, damage affects your performance.
    • If you have an accident, don't panic. Pit for repairs and for fresh rubber. With your car in perfect conditions, you might be able to recover.

Our server is available 24/7 but the conditions are pretty hard and we doubt that it will ever be as popular as other servers.
We're after quality and not quantity and we believe that a race with few fair drivers is more enjoyable than a race with many poor ones.

You can most likely find us playing during the European evening and during Weekends (but we're also online during other periods of the day depending on our lives).
Feel free to post in this thread for anything related to this server, we'll be happy to help when we can.

Seems like a good server, appart from the no TC. For a server that wants to go for realism that seems a bit silly...

Will look into it when I feel like going for a longer race than usual.

    See you on track.

If you want to go for realism keep everything factory (assists). Since that actually is the realistic way to go. :) (it just sounds so damn elitist when you say you're going for realism and therefore don't allow TC or ABS.)

Just my 2 cents. Will check the server out later :)

Exactly my thoughts. Didn't want to trow the word elitist around :p

I guess we could turn that on. I don't remember: does the actual version of AC remember if we want TC off or do we have to cycle through all the settings every time?

"realism", will check it out this evening though

Yes, well i guess it's a strong word for any computer program at this stage but the server name can't be too long and that term gives the idea of what we are trying to do ;).

All it would take is one player with Keyboard and Mouse and the TC/ABS is out of the window. It should be as realistic as possible so if the cars have TC and or ABS then they should be accessible to those who want them.

Use these settings. They override client settings (in most instances)
TC_ALLOWED=1 ;Factory setting = If the car has TC it will be available in game
ABS_ALLOWED=1 ; as above for ABS
STABILITY_ALLOWED=0 ; forced off but available to KBM users.
AUTOCLUTCH_ALLOWED=0 ;forced off but available when game detects no clutch is present in controller.

Keyboard and mouse drivers do of course deserve respect (I've been one on them when I started enjoying car games) but it's not them that we're targeting atm.
These grip levels and conditions are not really suited for them.

Btw it's no problem to set TC to "Factory", but it depends on whether Assetto saves the TC Level preference or not (can't remember that).
If it doesn't, we'll wait till it does because I don't want people to destroy their "T" keyboard button every time they rejoin a server :).

  13. *** CAN OF WORMS OPEN ***
Well, I guess if we want it to be as realistic as possible, we need to switch to "PAKFA" mode, and ban all gamepad, keyboard and mouse drivers :D

As far as I know when you join a server with TC/ABS enabled, the levels are maximum by default regardless of previous settings.

Depends, server can also only allow factory settings. I've seen it like that in a few servers.

  17. Horus

Does it not remember the settings you had last time you raced that track? So if you had them turned off they would be off, but would be forced on if they are forced on in server?

  18. bigbawmcgraw

    bigbawmcgraw Alien

That was implied in my previous post ;)

  19. bigbawmcgraw

    bigbawmcgraw Alien

Nope. If ABS/TC are allowed on a server they will be set to maximum force automatically, regardless of your in-game settings and/or previous server setting.
Only going by what Steve Sco told me but he's a clever lad ;)

They could even control the car using the sole power of their brain, if they are able to control the car and compete on a fair level they are welcome.
Just they have to deal with the same server settings as everyone else.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully this will be improved at some point by taking the minimum level between the server and the client settings.
When they do, I'll set the TC to factory.

  21. It took me a handful of server visits to get in the habit of checking for this when I first started playing AC online. Now I automatically look for the "TC" in the Essentials Bar, and switch it off.
