Silverstone plays host to round eleven of the North American Grand Prix Thursday night GT championship and you can catch all the action live at 9pm Est on NAGPTV.

With only two races remaining, six drivers remain in title contention with Matt Taylor leading the way by just three points over Michael Makinde. Similarly, the team championship is just as tight with four teams in contention led by the Maserati's of TCB.

Championship week is upon us as season 34 of the North American Grand Prix Monday night open wheel series comes to an end with the final round of the championship from Montreal this evening.

It all comes down to tonight's final round where we crown the season 34 drivers champion in the open wheel series. Matt Taylor currently holds a slim three point lead over second place Kevin Lechmanski and a 16 point advantage over third place Marc DeGras. All three drivers have driven very well in the second half of the season and are all deserving of the title. Taylor will be aiming for his second career drivers title in open wheel while Kevin Lechmanski and Marc DeGras are still in search of their first drivers title. All three drivers will be carrying success ballast entering tonight's race with the advantage going to DeGras, carrying 25kg, 15kg less than both Taylor and Lechmanski. The pressure will be on all three contenders. It's going to be great to see how things play out in the end.

Captain Clutch Racing's Matt Taylor and Marc DeGras locked up the team championship after last week at Watkins Glen. The two drivers enter tonight's race with 364 points and no chance of being surpassed. TBROKDAMBAM's Eiran Parsons and John Houston were their closest rivals entering tonight's race 66 points behind the champions. Congratulations to Captain Clutch Racing on their first team championship.

In the competition index, the award given to the driver who covers the most distance in season, Kevin Lechmanski leads going into the final round. Lechmanski has completed all 457 laps through eleven races totaling 2,257.316km. John Houston is second, 3.602km behind.

Championships will be decided as the final race of the season XXXIV North American Grand Prix Thursday night GT series takes place this evening at the Bahrain International Circuit.

As we enter the final race, four drivers and four teams remain very much in contention for the championships in both categories. Coming off of a big win last week at Silverstone, Matt Taylor enters tonight's race leading the drivers championship with 163 points. Thirteen points behind Taylor are Michael Makinde and Matt Leeman who are both tied for second with 150 points. Brad Merys in third, is seventeen points behind the leader with 146 points. Of the four drivers in contention, Taylor and Makinde will be handicapped as Taylor will be carrying 40kg of success ballast and Makinde will be carrying 10kg of success ballast. The thirteen point lead Taylor has entering the final round is certainly a nice cushion, however, if any of you watched the Monday open wheel broadcast earlier in the week, then you will know that no lead and no championship entering the final round is guaranteed.

Four teams come into tonight's race with a shot at a championship. TCB's Matt Taylor and Jonathan Cuppett currently lead in the Maserati MC12 with 281 points. Empire State Racing's Matt Leeman and Dan Thorpe are eight points behind in the Saleen. Gotta Go Bye!'s Brad Merys and Al Marimon sit eighteen points behind the Lister. Jesse Olsen and Shawn Ricker of Purple Helmets are 24 points back in the Saleen. This is certainly one of the closest team battles we've seen in some time and it is completely up for grabs at this point.

In the competition index, this is the award that goes out to the driver who completes the most distance in a season, Jonathan Cuppett holds the lead with 510 laps completed through eleven races totaling 2425.927km. His closest competitor is Omar Gomez in second who has completed 485 laps totaling 2314.060km.
