1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I'm pretty sure if it was that easy they would have done so, besides there's also the marketing aspect. At the end of the day it has to be financially viable and there must be some return on it. My understanding the version of UE4 the game is running on the team have developed code the may break or not work if ported to a more up to date version. If it works I bet it would take a lot of recourses and time. How many current users have rtx gfx cards? How many would buy into ACC just for that feature? Or would buy the game anyways? I for one got hacked off to say the least because I went out an bought an RTX 2080ti when they came out especially looking forward to this title supporting those nice new features. I still have enjoyed ACC none the less and learnt my lesson, never ever trust Nvidia or their marketing.

The big take away from Nvidias actions over the past decade is that we can't trust a word that comes out of their mouth. At this point we even have to be wary of the reviewers because Nvidia is pushing them into telling porkies and punishing anyone who doesn't toe the line.

I will take a lot for me to trust Nvidia again.

Most important wished feature for VR users of ACC... I hope that it will get done someday.

Since ACC's roadmap has ended, DLSS as an DLC would be awesome (yes I am willing to pay for the implementation, since it costs extra work for the developers and it's BY FAR my most wished update/feature...)

    (Rant Warning:)
The problem with VR is that the current technology is just not up to the task.

Current and next Gen GPU's are two slow. If you consider the advancement in GPU development , there has been no new design advancement apart from fabrication technologies. The problem is that for the past few years there has been no competition in the industry, NVidia has dominated and because of this the technology as stagnated since the 1080Ti. People go on about the new graphics cards , but its not really a real advancment is it , just more of the same. And don't talk to me about tensor cores or other periphial technologies. Hopefully intel and amd stepping up , will force new designs and ideas .

DLSS is in my opinion a eventual dead end, and just a bandaid for slow GPUS, and because its not a generic tool

As for headsets, well headsets are pathetic and not up to the task , technology is crawling forward at a very slow pace, because I suppose the demand is not high anywhere outside specialist uses like simulation , bit like 3d TVs in the real world Useless to 99.999% of the population.

As for people saying that games such as IRacing, AMS2 have excellent VR , I say they have better VR , but in reality all VR is Crap.

And this is comming from somone who only uses VR

    sorry

In my opinion AMS2 indeed does have close to excellent VR. Very sharp(with the ini change), high visual quality and always locked 90FPS with high resolution(3080 here).

ACC has OK VR but should be improved with DLSS, the resolution is even with the 3080 too low for the Reverb G2, it's OK but nothing more.
With DLSS it could be as good as AMS2.

Am I missing something or did Kunos Simulazioni not reply in this thread yet?
They should see the importance of adding DLSS, it's a absolute necessary thing to implement ACC and DLSS should be priority nr.1 !
Please let us all know, we are all eagerly waiting for your confirmation about the implementation of DLSS! Thx for the great development ! :)

  9. TBH that's not the problem at all.

The real problem is the fact that VR is, simplifying, twice as computationally heavier than simple screen.
It's asking the render engine to render more than twice the pixels (often A LOT more) and pass through the scene twice.
And that is true regardless of what hardware you are running.

Gamedevs front this dilemma when it comes to VR.. if they want to target VR 90fps they will have to make a game that runs at 200+ fps on a single screen.
The ONLY way to do that is to reduce object and polygon count.. there's no way around it.. and if they do that their game screenshots and videos won't look as impressive as they would if devs could instead pump up those counts and come up with something looking "next gen".

This is true regardless of GPU power.. is that relationship of performance between VR and single screen that is just too big to allow for a "shared" solution that works for all.. the choice will always be between making a game that looks "last gen" but runs great in VR and something that looks "next gen" but is not that performant in VR... and it's normal to see devs choosing the latter (at least for games trying to achieve photorealism) simply because VR still represent a minority in the user base, and I struggle to see a future where this will be any different.

And that's the reason that why we need DLSS ! Because that makes the game perform almost twice as good as it does now.

I believe that the next ACC update will include DLSS, you will be suprised :)

  11. maybe

but if you do some reading on the forums you should easily find that the real reason for not having it yet is that it requires to update UE4 of a couple of versions.. which is quite a big job considering the amount of custom code that was necessary to add to UE4 to make ACC.

Hopefully it gets added and hopefully it gives all the magic improvements it promises.. but I'd keep the expectations very very low, very easy to get disappointed.

Nope. You only need to look at the woes people are having with Cyberpunk to see DLSS is not the magic pill you think it to be. You might be able to run the G2 in its intended resolution, but it probably will be as fuzzy as it is now with a lower resolution - that's because it's nothing more than an upscaler, with exactly the same downfalls. The only thing that'll happen is the devs will have invested a sh*tload of time and people will accuse them of having it implemented wrong somehow.

  15. well in this case it's irrelevant.

We're actually a couple of days away from the anniversary of me leaving Kunos Simulazioni.. so it is entirely possible DLSS is coming.. I wouldn't know a thing about it :)

I would be really surprised if the majority of PC sim racing isn’t done in VR in the next 5 years, it’s really just a matter of PC power and headset improvements. If power and resolution become a non issue who would seriously chose to race using a flat window in to the racing world vs actually being in the car? I very much think those will be in the minority.

I’m also not completely sold on VR in sim racing being that small these days. VR headsets on Steam from last survey is 2.21% What percentage of Steam users play sims? If we take the largest played sim, AC1 and take the reported 1.5 million sales or so that’s still roughly speaking 1.25% of the steam player base.

Looking at the last RD survey for VR use for sim racing, from 1646 responders 553 used VR all the time and another 274 used it occasionally, that’s over half.

Looking purely at ACC I’d say it has the least VR use purely due to hardware requirements but in sim racing overall I’d say VR use is a fair bit higher then a lot of people think

  17. I only hobbled into PC ACC a couple of months ago, but the thread title alone tells me enough about the subject to know i should probably stfu about it...

  18. I started VR on PS4 Pro playing Dirt Rally and GTS and was sold right away. Ive tried triple screen set ups and it just doesnt compare.
Super happy I made the switch to PC, mostly because of VR.

However, Ive had friends over that like it but arent sold. So we definitly have a long way to go before it becomes mainstream. I think 5 years is way too optimistic.

I think it's hands down the best way to sim race, but even if the hardware was able to run it easily the headsets are still pretty pricey. Especially when you consider it's going to sit there doing nothing when your not sim racing. It's still not an easy sell to a lot of people.

I think VR will always be just outside the ability of the current cards too. If the graphics card companies are aiming for a single screen and developers are trying to extract the most graphics they can in each title they make, then asking them to double it will always be asking too much.

I think a playable VR version will become more and more available but it will probably always be a version with cut back graphics.

What you say is true with the old implementation of DLSS, in for example BFV, but the most recent DLSS version(that UE4 supports) is a completely different story.

See/compare these screenshots(1440P native vs DLSS) and look at the difference in FPS: https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/cyberpunk-2077-ray-tracing-dlss-2-0-benchmarks/

The screenshots looks practically the same, but the FPS is even more then doubled. You're underestimating DLSS in a huge way. It's an absolute must for ACC in VR.

I just want to take this chance to say: Thank you for everything. I'm pretty new to sim racing but I enjoy ACC the most, by far. Now I remember that I read about your new sailing adventure, I just didn't remember your famous name...

But yes I'm right, DLSS is coming, so now you know the news ;):D
