1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

XB1 Personality types and percentages - the state of online multiplayer (console)

After weeks of extensive study, and a lot of chaotic and ruined races, I can reveal the personality types and approximate percentages of behaviour you will find in console online multiplayer racing. You might be lucky enough to meet a few clean racers but for the most part, you will be surrounded by the impatient, incompetent and downright ignorant.

This is far from an issue unique to Assetto Corsa but the lack of private lobbies mean the issue is magnified.

Here are the main online racing personality types with some approximate percentages across the past few weeks. Note that the figures add up to more than 100% as many of the same characters are also included in the quitter category when their chosen misbehaviour backfires.

    First Corner Charlie (20%)

They've only ever seen an accident in the rear view mirror, and if they aren't winning at the first corner they quit.

Regardless of starting position, or skill, these racers know that every race is won at the first corner. They are so used to the single player racing game that they know they are the fastest and win every race. Never mind who they take out or what carnage they cause they have to win and win fast. If the tactic doesn't work out they know all they need to do is quit the race, find another room near the end of qualifying and repeat.

    Clueless (20%)

You've seen them spinning at every corner in qualifying but the all other players have to click yes kick system means you can't get rid of them. You know the race is going to be chaos.

Clueless treats the first corner like a 10 pin bowling alley hoping to bounce off anything unlucky enough to get in the way. They should not be confused with the First Corner Charlie, these players simply have no clue. If they cause the first corner incident it'll be because they have no idea where the braking point is, not an attempt to win. Most join the quitter club after the first corner but if they do stay look out for more chaos at any point. Their real world MX5 can take every corner flat so what can't all the cars in the game do the same?

    Track Redesigner (20%)

Cheat is the accurate description. Slow in qualifying yet miraculously fast in the race, they can drive beyond every track limit.
AC has track limits in qualifying but almost none during races. Why?

You'll wonder where they came from, especially at Spa, but this racer has all the answers by redesigning the track to suit their style. Those white lines and kerbs are only a guide, aren't they? Two wheels on the ground, let alone the track, is a rarity for them. "If the game allows it, it must be ok" is their rallying cry. Partly a game design fault, mostly a lack of moral fibre. It would be great to think humans could be trusted to stick to the accepted rules but from the most elite sports to online racing they can't. Strict track limits are am must if we are to see the end of this menace. If their off-track antics result in a spin that costs them a few places they will, of course, join the quitter club.

    Coming through! (10%)

No room, no problem. They know they are fastest and they are coming through regardless.
    Lean on me.

Every race is a touring car race, every overtake means another chance for contact. Nose of their car within 2 car lengths of yours? That is their corner and you are their additional brakes. They know they'd never have made the corner but luckily your car just happened to be in the right place to guide them round. They rarely quit while there are cars to chase but strangely seem to find gravel traps once out in front. Generally, if they spin, they quit unless there are other cars around when the game begins again.

    Antisocial Behaviour Disorder (10%)

Sociopaths. Who knows what they get from the game?
Small in number, big in impact. Lost souls in need of serious professional help.

They rarely stay more than 2 laps but by then they will have wrecked yours. Driving the wrong way, crashing into everyone, waiting in ambush, doing doughnuts on the pit exit they've got destruction in mind. Often using a new Gamertag they cause chaos and move on. They never finish a race so why should you.

    Trackside Parker (2%)

Relatively rare yet a surprising problem. Finding a car parked on the apex of a corner for no apparent reason.

    Did Not Start (3%)

Forgot to press the B button?

When half the grid fails to make even the first corner the Did Not Start is often a culprit. Why do we need to press the B button to enter the race? Why does not pressing the B button automatically ghost the car in question? Who knows! More bad game design causing avoidable problems.

    Quitters (40-80% of random players)

Caluculated quitters, failure quitters, rage quitters.

A category that contains many of the earlier personality types. When they fail to gain advantage or the race is ruined they leave. Races with 14-16 players often end with fewer than 5 finishers. The console players motto seems to be "if you can't win, quit."

    Clean Racers (15%)

If no one else can help, if you can find them, some clean racers do actually exist.
A minority and the reason we desperately need private online lobbies.

Finally then the good news. There are a limited number of dedicated fair racers out there. No, they aren't perfect and yes there is still the occasional contact but nothing race ending. Places are given back for off track overtakes. If they are faster they take realistic overtaking chances and wait for them rather than causing accidents. Sometimes you even exchange a friendly good race message. They are also prone to quitting when they are outnumbered by the many other personalities.

Please give us private online lobbies, they are the only chance of avoiding this game destroying nonsense. Assetto Corsa has improved but until the private online lobby issue is resolved the console version is less than half a game.

I enjoyed reading the article. I just hope that such drivers will find there selves here!!

I will not **** you but I didt finish a race in a month or so. I really
Hoped that the private lobbies will come with the current update but we'll have to wait for another month or two for them to come.

Before private room available, if you need one, go to a empty room with your friends then start race by vote. The room will be lock down during race, as long as you keep vote restart race, you've got a private room. Pretty sure enough empty room to do so without waste resources.

Very good post. Nothing like putting a serious point across in a humorous way, completely devoid of those annoying and, unfortunately, so common rantings we see everywhere on the Net.
