1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Perspective from a 51 year old Gamer

“Grazie Infinte” dear Kunos Simulazioni Team, I mean this sincerely.

This brings me to the point and motivation for this post, PERSPECTIVE.

You have taken gazillions of zeros and ones, mixed it with your technical ability, added passion, talent, and precious time, and cooked this fantastic dish called Assetto Corsa,

It is not only a racing game or simulation, it is much more.

Assetto Corsa is a platform for us to live our passion, to create memories, and have fun.

To explain this is not that easy but I will try,

I have been a PC gamer since the early 90s and always enjoyed 3 genres, Flight & Racing Simulators and First person shooters. Played Doom no cheats, flew in EF 2000, Fleet Defender, MS Flightsim, raced in the epic GP2 by Geoff Crammond and later GTR.

Autoexec.bat, Config.sys had to be fine tuned to squeeze every byte of RAM to optimize the early games. No Gigabytes of this and GHz of that, basic hardware only, the days before Pentium processors and high speed graphics cards.

And as simple as these games were it created memories, even today I recall some of those from my virtual life.

And this is what I experienced most recently and made me think, driving the beautiful F2006 and now the epic the F2002 F1 Ferrari of Michael Schumacher, and watching my replays brought a lump to my throat, understand why since I am a very old fan since 1993 who followed his entire career.

To experience such strong emotions from a game, how is this possible?

Only because of the passion which was used to create this beautiful game and the fantastic mods by our talented community can explain this sensation.

Thank you for letting us live this fantasy, creating memories and having fun, this is after all what it’s about.

To the rest, don’t loose perspective, have respect for the talent and enjoy this era you live in with all the choices, software and hardware power options before you demand more, criticize, troll, whatever you call it.

Wake up and smell the coffee sunshine, life is too short and precious to waste.

    Only burn rubber!......................

    Cheers,

    ET

Question is, are us old timers going to keep going with the times and get into VR or leave it to the young'uns? A bit off topic....

I get virtual motion sickness in a 360° cinema within 10 minutes.
So I won't try VR because I don't want to puke on my rig.
    Sorry for detailed description .

I've already tried DK2. It would take massive training to become accustomed to it for me. 50" 4k, 36" away is much better.

48 yrs old, fully addicted to racing, flying and FPS genres, and totally can't wait for VR to get perfected. Us old guys have seen extremes in game/sim technical limitations and achievements that the young 'uns just can't appreciate. From coin-op arcade games and early home consoles, to PCs and next-gen consoles, to the new breakthroughs in VR... we've watched gaming evolve from a fun mindless distraction to an art form that rivals the film industry.

  11. Add one more name to the club. I am 48 years old, and I have been enjoying playing computer and video games since Christmas 1981 (Atari VCS 2600). I was a big PC first person shooter fan for a long time (since the original shareware release of Doom in 1993), but I have become more and more fussy over the years where that type of game is concerned. I suspect that the first person shooter game that I want to play in 2016 (ironically, with the ability to avoid combat) is beyond the capabilities of any software developer in the world, and almost certainly well beyond the willingness of any publisher to finance it. These days I concentrate on one race simulator (Assetto Corsa) and one flight simulator (Lockheed Martin Prepar3D).

Pretty much the same. 44, PC gaming seriously since the early 90s.

Flight sims, shooters, driving, pretty much in that order until the last couple of years. Driving has now taken over my flight sim activities as the driving sim genre is quite vibrant compared to the sadly almost dead flight sim arena. I can handle TRack IR so I'm hoping I can adapt to VIR without too much trouble.

I remember when it was amazing to see anything you could recognise from the real world in your sim products...

But young for this club (36) but I've been gaming since I was a very little kid. I recall ASCII games, and before that even pure text-based ones. I've seen it all too.

You guys are spot on with everything said in this thread.

On vacation right now, kicking back in the tropics as of this evening... and missing AC already.

This scares me a little, I don't think I can commit to another 30 or so years of playing AC, that would be insane, probably satisfying as well, but still...
Kidding aside, I'm glade to see some more mature people enjoy the game alongside us "kids" :p.

Have to agree wholeheartedly with the OP (although my gaming preferences are a little different). 55 years on this tiny blue speck and, for me, AC is the product that has finally allowed me to connect with a piece of software that simulates my passion in life... The Automobile.

From the likes of Pole Position, Stunt Car Racer and Indy 500 to now has been a hugely enjoyable ride, where it goes from here is anybody's guess (I don't think it will go down the VR route though for me). It's also very interesting to see the differences in "attitude" to where we are now versus where we were 30-35 years ago and how the younger generation "think" about the software and hardware options available to them. I'm not criticising, just making a point about how different generations react and socialise. For some reason I detest the phrase "I beat this game or that game" and usually have a giggle to myself and think No, you just finished the game :). I have to re-adjust myself sometimes though and think, hang on a minute Johnny, the world is not populated purely by old farts like you.

Nah then, I have to get back to a session of brain training. I visited a good mate last night and left my phone there, memory needs some exercise :D

Add me to the old list, 45 years old and been sim racing since around 1980. Always toyed with racing games and flight sims from night flight on the ZX Spectrum, Solo Flight on the C64 to Revs on the BBC B. Then the big hitters starting appear, Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series, Microsoft's Flight Simulator, Papyrus Indycar. So much time spent on those titles, it was crazy.

Then everything changed and the golden age of sim racing and the Internet with Grand Prix Legends, Nascar 2002/3, Rfactor, F1 Championship Edition, GTR 1/2, GT Legends and Race. So many incredible memories, friends formed and titles so good that we still play them today.

Today, I find the choices are more limited, AC, Rfactor 2, Pcars and Iracing. This might be from being older I have less time to myself or, it might be because all those previous title have fine tuned to what I really look for in a sim. None of them are perfect in any shape or form and lacks key features but each one takes us to the next level of involvement and realism that we strive for.
