1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

For me I find Automobilista gives me the best impression of tires that interact with the road in a believable way (based on real life track experience). It's something to do with the fact that irl you are not on rails and when cornering you are constantly slightly drifting especially on corner exit , but the tires are still giving you a ton of grip even in this drift. AMS conveys this the best for me.

Most still lift a bit. You're pretty much looking at supercars even in 2016 if you want downforce on the road.

I suppose load transfer doesn't really apply the same with aero (although if the car does lean, underbody aero will suddenly be weighted heavily towards the lower side), but slip angle is still as important as it ever was.

I'd have to argue that to be at all fast you need to understand how tires work. Not at a super scientific level, but at least the basics. Traction circle alone isn't gonna cut it IMO: generalizations will lead to just as much confusion as scientific bull****.

Tires are also always gonna be the part to touch the ground and aero is not gonna change how they work fundamentally. However it's very true that you can't drive an aero car like you'd drive a streetcar and vice versa. That just means you need to learn to drive both aero cars and non-aero cars. To understand how aero effects the tires, a good understanding of the basics is essential. You can't run before you walk!

Also, like @aphidgod said, modern roadcars have basically no real aero. You're gonna be able to drive them just fine with Barber's advice: it's not gonna go out of date probably ever. Tires have gotten way better and car handling design has changed, but I'm not so sure that the essence of driving has changed so much that old material is completely out of date.

I agree & thank god because my eyes where rolling watching those physics videos. I think more is gained by practice & maybe even more so from driving tuition & feedback if you can get it, I guess a little theory is interesting or maybe even useful but It's not like footballer has to study the physics of a football to be good.

I guess the reason it is talked about on here is it is important in getting a simulator to work right. So to answer the op the only thing that's felt a little off with the handling for me (apart from FFB) is low speed under-steer. Thing with this is when you do mess up i'm not sure it happens in a natural way. So yes avoid messing up in the first place, but still it is there. Somebody may correct me as im certainly no expert on this but it always feels to me like they didn't quite nail that.

Why manufacturer waste their times on wind tunnel for road cars & advertise it generate downforce & less drag?

Because they have to do wind tunnels anyways - they are invaluable to control noise, find high speed instabilities or stuff like random resonances (stuff that we take for granted since modern manufacturers do their homework), as well as compromise drag against the "form factor" - which is the most important aspect of the car.

It's just a low hanging fruit for marketing dep. to brag about numbers that are easily understood by the masses. And numbers can always be set too look good regardless if there was actual improvement or not.

Is that like the fuel efficiency ratings, where they take the seats out, over inflate the tyres just to nail the competition by point one of a mpg who has probably done exactly the same in their test?

Doesn't seem to be the case here...

Then you missed the point of the the quote: "modern roadcars have basically no real aero"

From wiki on car from the vid "The Porsche 911 GT3 is a high performance version of the Porsche 911 sports car primarily intended for racing." and a bit further on RS "In 2003, Porsche introduced the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, an even more track-focused version of the 996 GT3.

The only "road" thing about it is homologation.
