Simulating automatic gearbox possible in ac?

Only one game I know of has actually simulated an automatic gearbox properly: Gran Turismo 5. Even then, only on two cars (Lexus ISF & Mercedes SL55), one of which was made incorrect again in GT6 and the other I haven't tried. Also on PGR (anyone remember that?) the cars used to move from a standstill like automatics (all of them) but then just went back to manual upon changing gear.

All other games give all cars manual or semi-autos. Look at this, skip to 3:28:

That is a manual Bentley Continental. A manual Bentley. On what planet can you get a manual Bentley? This is also true for the Jeep SRT, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Mercedes E63 and any other car that has never been sold with a manual.

Notice how the power is constant and the gear changes do not break the engine volume or change the sound. It smoothly goes down in the rev range to the next gear. This is more noticeable at half throttle which I'm sure anyone who has driven an auto will know.

We all strive for the most realism, why is this simple thing still happening in 2014?

Ah yes! Indeed it does. Problem is the graphics are old, physics questionable and sounds terrible. Also isn't it a 4 gear auto or something for all cars? Also I'm really wanting this in AC. I don't want to go and play a game I don't like just for this feature. It's not exactly the most important thing, just wondering if it can/will be done in AC.

 

Personally I could do without it, but if they can implement it, why not?

If AC has more features than any other driving game/sim, it will sell better I think.

 

I'd like the cars to be as accurately modeled as possible, physics and on board systems. Obviously I'd draw the line at the air con and heated seats.

It does bug me a bit that the road cars especially are missing dash elements. I also wish the instruments were a bit easier to read.
