1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

It won't take long before the prices drop more than half and there are better VR headsets that are way better quality. Next year just about all new computers will be VR ready. And I'm sure you can by a much faster computer for more money.
If I'm forced to go back to triple screens I will probably lose interest in sim racing and start building a real car again.

Yes, and that illustrates the reason why there are only few new 3D releases anymore and why they cannot milk people for 3D displays anymore: people simply are not that interested as expected or projected. They do not pay for 3D.

I predict it will be the same when the show up with scent-movies and smelling- TV. Short hyp0e, and then nob ody will care anymore.

Talking of TVs and -movies here only. Do not mean to imply this kind of interest-declining dive happening to VR in games.

Maybe porno movies can help the VR guys out. :D With VHS, they did the trick back in the 80s. LOL

Or imagine Donald Trump virtually in 3D before you - a whole new film genre of horror defined! Scary! Or Hilary Clinton starring in Alien 6, as the queen of all alien queens!

Same goes for the internet. Early on it only gained traction with the general public because people wanted to view porno...

I'm surprised how VR is never mentioned in the mass media now. Up until the OR and Vive release there were recurring "will VR change the world" articles, now nothing... Maybe they just have their answer and its "no"...

Wait a few more generations in hardware improvements and the entry cost will reduce a lot. One or two generations jumps in video/cpu and suddenly people won't need to fork out to get high-end systems because the low to medium hardware will be able to cope.
I think a lot of people assume gamers are the only target market, VR adoption from gamers is not the whole market, it's a key group but not the only group.
VR is now being used by real estate, architecture, tourism, automotive and many more industries, and those industries believe VR as an integral part of their businesses.

I think on PlayStation it will take off. It ain't cheap on PC & as somebody mentioned its not so obvious what its like till you try it. For me I have no regrets, one of the few things i bought that is worth every penny.

Why must you resort to logical fallacy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denying_the_antecedent) for your response? You seem to imply that since I didn't/don't think VR support would/will drive AC sales that therefor I must think that VR support should be dropped or should never have been added in the first place. I neither think that nor have I made any statements to that effect. I'm glad that Kunos are supporting VR in AC. I hope to take advantage of it one day. I hope that both VR support in AC and VR hardware are further improved by then. I simply believe that driving sales of AC was not a valid reason for adding/updating VR support. Nothing more or less than that. Do you honestly believe that I was/am wrong about that? I'd love to see how you work the 1 in 1000 (gamers who own a Rift) numbers into a solid business-case for adding VR support to AC. Please, indulge me.

Incidentally, one great thing about your response being a logical fallacy is that I still get to agree with it, without, in any way, diminishing my statement that adding VR to AC was/is unlikely to drive AC sales. Sure, you're right, if devs don't run with it then VR is dead in the water. That's a great reason to add/improve VR support in AC (or any other title for that matter). An even better reason is that, however swayed by the vocal minority, VR support topped the list in the "let's play game designer poll/thread." I could probably come up with another dozen or so good reasons for adding/improving VR support in AC - it's just that none of them are "in order to increase sales." I just prefer the truth is all. You know, based on facts and such.

Assetto Cora is by far the best VR experience for me. Although I may have to download PCcars one more time. I'm always disappointed and like AC even more.

To imagine VR as being just another fad that will soon fade is easy - especially if you haven't tried it first hand. IMO, it doesn't compare to 3D-TV at all; I never felt compelled to invest in a 3D-TV but, VR was compelling and I can easily imagine it having a place in my gaming-world long term. It's not for everyone though, some will never warm up to it - even if they have no adverse reactions when using VR. Once the resolution and overall image quality is improved with reasonable performance demands, it will be the way to play racing and flight-Sims for most IMO.

Anyone who is/are/was/were concerned so much with the logic of an argument should/ought/might do better than to quote wikipedia as his/her/its primary source. I mean, wikipedia is/was/ not a bastion of research and credibility/reliability/constancy.

Try/attempt/make every effort next time/in the future/down the road to use more scholarly references. When you use wikipedia, while trying to sound all erudite/smart, it makes you look like the opposite.

    Thanks/Have a Nice Day/Check you later!!??!?!

Bravo! Touche! Ad Hominem logical fallacy. Are you working from a list like this one from Purdue University... https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/659/03/... or did you just get lucky 'cause that's your logic style?

PS: Bite me!!! A bunch of the fallacies on that list were actually used as justifications for VR support in the let's play game designer thread. I can dig up the references if need be. You know, facts and such.

I read an article (in French so I won't share it) today that calculated that most (57.62%) of Steam players game below 1080p and 720p is still extremely common. Note that I did not write "at or below", but below. It's based on Steam's stats, available here: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey?

Can you believe the stats below? I could not.

    upload_2016-9-8_19-13-7.png

This should really put things in perspective as regards the popularity of VR gaming. The truth is that most so-called "gamers" enjoy games casually on their phones on consoles. A large proportion of Steam users actually run games on laptops that can't even handle 1080p!

The Oculus Rift hardware requirements (NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater / Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater) are way above the standard gaming PC, in proportions that are even greater than I thought.

You thought that your GTX 970 and 1080p was the standard in 2016. Well, it is not. This shows that the price of entry for VR is even more relevant than I thought. A very small minority of PC gamers have VR-ready PCs. This means that even more people than I thought need to upgrade their PCs in addition to the cost of the headset so it's really not an exaggeration to say that the price of entry is €2000, not €700.

There's just absolutely no way a €2,000 price of entry can allow the existence of a mass market, not even close. VR on PC is basically nonexistent today and it will still be in a few years.

If VR succeeds in becoming a mass market, it will be on consoles and smartphones with cheap headsets.

Is that hardware or played game resolution, bet the latter as I am not aware of monitors with some of the odd resolutions listed.
And dropping resolution to use use higher graphics settings is pretty common.
Plus we should look into geographical distribution of the stats, average US user hardware would be quite different from average user from Nigeria for instance.

@chalminho agree with you 100%, the entry ticket for most, me included, is just too high.
I bought a used DK2 this summer and the only SIM I can use it, with my rig, is LFS.
I am glad I have done that step, 300$ CND, because VR is just so immersive, and I know I will eventually first update my PC and then update to CV1 or similar, but it is a lot of money, even though VR is quite amazing, the fact remains, AC is still not so bad on my 98 inch diagonal, 1/1 FOV, 1200x800 projected screen.
Considering, I have disposable income, I can only imagine the minority of younger player whit enough free to spend money that will actually pull the trigger on a VR goggle set, when waiting for a better deal is so easy and so tempting.
When the quality of the graphics within the VR Goggles is twice as good, when most game/SIM are ( really) ready for it, not just barely playable in VR and the entry ticket is 3 times less, we could see the VR wave we are all anticipating, but short to mid term it will stay a nice topic of gamer conversation with some happy few raving about it.

Yes, VR adoption will take much longer than most first thought but, we also have to recognize the need for support in various ways and it's part in making VR possible and viable long term.

Oculus initially believed that they would have plenty of CV1's made to full-fill early orders; their projections were obviously much lower than sales turned out to be although, they have been tight-lipped related to actual sales figures. That suggests that sales are going better than anticipated thus far and when Touch is released, it may very well spur sales a bit more. They know that the gaming market for VR is too small to speed VR growth so they focused much of their attention on Mobile VR and other areas and new partnerships. VR gaming is only a small part of the bigger VR picture yet to come.

I'd guess desktop size from the 1536x864, as that's apparently 1080p + a 'bug' in windows 8 that reports resolutions funny.

If the price of the Rift was just the headset I probably would have tried to get one, but then they added "980 or better GPU, USB 3.0, fast CPU" and it turned into replacing my entire PC so I skipped it.

    VR is not better yet.
I used triples in the past and bought DK2 and 4k two years ago.
I gave away my triples smiling.
Now I use my 4k display all the time and the DK2 is sitting on the shelf (I use it every other month a little bit, its fun, but no match for 4k)
VR will be the future no doubt about it. But only when the resolution is doubled. 4k experience is just better for now.
