If you drive offline, is AC considering marbles and other track debris? (less traction)
    How does that work?

    Hi there
Excuse me for not reading 20 pages of text. :)

So... say i have some friends round and we're having a few bevvies/puff, or not.
Would their mistakes in ACC impact any of my ratings.??

    If so... how to avoid.??

ps. i think i read something along the lines of, 'practice doesn't affect the ratings'.
But, i noticed you also wrote, 'ratings could change at any time'.

    tia...

Same for me. If you really drop by 20 or 30 CC, you should reconsider how to approach the hotlap mode.
Getting a good lap there doesn't necessarily mean you need to drive above the limit until you are lucky for one lap, especially when you can do such good Hotstint laps. Or just screw the Hotlap mode, and go for the real thing :D

This turns out to be interesting. CC works very well as-is in wet conditions, without any adjustment. But I guess we will see some finetuning for heavy and thunderstorm conditions until 1.0, not because the CC result is wrong but because it may put drivers off to use the fun conditions.

Atm, yes and no way to avoid. On the long run this will be even interesting to analyse, watching graphs and information giving hints of how your friends performance compare.
This is true for the current, driver oriented ratings only. Safety and performance oriented ratings are different, and we will need a way to disable them for various reasons. Most prominent is again - ratings should never give you an incentive *not* to drive, that wouldn't make any sense.

    Thanks for clarifying somewhat. :)

Maybe while in ACC driver/profile page we could select say a... "friend mode".
This would disable driver ratings, online features etc.
Basicly turning it into a hotlap/practice/single races only mode, where incidents would stay isolated from the main driver profile.
But it would also be cool if laptimes of that "friend mode", so to speak, were saved locally or...

I don't even know if it's something that can be implemented without being a great deal of hassle.
All i know is that if my driver profile is affected by visiting friends incidents, then my friends won't get the chance to race ACC in my house.
Especially if we've had a few... n' where's the fun in that.:D:)

It really is appreciated, you devs taking the time to answer these never-ending questions.

Right. It is just the last second, which is the hardest to get.
Also playing with setup results into spins when the aero balance is destroyed.
Anyway you are right, i should approach it differently and i may have exaggerated. 60 CC Rating was kinda low in my case. But 70 CC Rating i was reaching when trying to get a low 1:53 in hotlap.

Ah good to know for wet races and the CC Rating!
Your approach seems fine for me.
Those conditions can happen also in dynamic weather (when released) and this shouldnt put drivers off to get used to.

If you do, keep me posted. The theory is that we simracers don't do ourselves a favor by this pushing-like-mad approach, and we would even have better results per time invested.
From my personal experiences, my biggest improvements were always made by improving my "comfort" pace, not trying to fire all I have and hope for the best. Of course both goes hand in hand, but sloooowly increasing comfort pace just doesn't mess up as many laps. I also guess our brains are better when trained without distractions (like spins or major mistakes) and rythm.

Just to avoid misunderstandings: For some drivers, wet conditions *will* decrease the CC rating. But that's fine, because it is correct. There's nothing wrong in pointing out where deficits are, that's the actual job of that rating.

Side story: Funnily the opposite is also true for other drivers. While watching people try ACC in Misano and Spa (which involved observing CC information in realtime), there was a quite interesting pattern for both experienced simracers and real drivers.
Roughly 50% of both groups were overdriving the car in dry conditions, let's say they would do laps with ~30-50 CC. The simracers because they are simracers, the real drivers because they appeared to play a game and not drive a race car (= a mindset thing). But whenever we gave them medium wet conditions, they immediately switched to alien mode, and the CC values skyrocketed to close 90+. Mistakes and off-track time went down to almost zero.

In wet conditions, you need to be on your toes - but you also know and feel it, so this it is not surprising to unlock even better CC values in more difficult conditions.

That's going to be the problem, I'm afraid ;)
But once we have all the Ratings working and you guys are fully familiar with them, I'm quite confident this won't be regarded as an issue.

The first 3 ratings won't have much of an impact (except the unlock which is only required once), so you won't even care if it drops a few points because a friend was driving. On the contrary, I'm positive that it is going to be interesting to see the data and the differences.

    k...
    That's unfortunate(for now).

My friends still won't get near ACC if it messes with the/my main driver profile.
I'll be needing all the points i can get. :)

    But why? :D
A rating like CC is nothing than a metric, like laptimes - just expressing something different. You don't really care about the laptimes your friends would do, right?
And yes ok, the CC rating is some kind of moving average, so it may* (or may not) be affected for a few days. But who cares, I mean you know why?

Let's see if this is a still a problem before 1.0 - if yes I'll consider the corresponding options

    Hehehe...
You've not been round to mine when we've had a few.

Seriously, this wouldn't just bring averages down, this would obliterate months and months and months of clean laps.:)
I'm well prepared to wait and see what emerges down the line though.:)

  13. That is EXACTLY what I though when I read Paulies post...LOL

I would simply disable ratings entirely in practice mode if I was in your shoes @Minolin

Jap some way to disable ratings would be nice. Especially because I often do hotseat racing with friends.

Maybe you should take your own advice before jumping in, telling folks "it's just a damn number".

    If you read through...
you would have noticed that minolin, for certain circumstances, accepts that there might be a need for people to disable the rating.
    ie. friends/family visiting, socialising etc.

Must be great never having anyone to share your sim rig and hobby with, eh. ;)

Hmmm, interesting, so does that mean that if I pull the network cable the game caches data until it can reconnect to the server(s)?

I would only be bothered about my ratings diving if it influenced which MP servers I could access.
From what Minolin's saying, that won't be the case for the ratings we already have.
(I do expect it to be the case for the safety rating though.)
