1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

That setup will work in long races but for qualifying i like the car which is agile which is generally faster around any track.
I've heard even from pro drivers in YT videos that some of them prefer slight understeer generally but in qualifying with limited amount of laps and every mili second count they don't go for stability.
If you ask me i would not suggest understeer in porsche as it already has understeer due to how its layout(rear engine) even in safe and wet default setups the rear is pretty stiff.
2019 model will hopefully solve high speed stability issues.

  2. Somehow I struggle with changing temperatures. I had a 2h race at Spa with day/night change and with more night it felt like the aero balance shifted more to the front. First I loved it and achieved new personal bests but then I spun out at Raidillon twice, which never happened before with this setup (Safe setup with Wing 10 and 120l for the start). Next time maybe Wing 11-12. I still have no clue what's the reason. Tire were all green and pressures dropped slightly under 27 PSI.

As mentioned in the blog, fuel will go down meaning the car becomes unbalanced at the front too.

  4. True, but for me with the slightly modified safe setup, a 1h race with daylight only is different and the risk of spinning there is close to zero. Maybe I just need a lot more practice at night.

During the night the temperature goes down, the engine is performing better so you arrive to the corners faster, the pressure of the tyres might go down too so you lose some grip and of course the low visibility factor, can catch you out of shape.

You said Manthey is Porsche's works team in IMSA. It's not.

And I don't think the RSR is "built" in Meuspath, no. Manthey does support and perhaps final delivery of the customer cars.

Is there anything you can do to categorically remove the higher speed understeer the car has?

Or is it something you just have to live with on this car? If it means dealing with oversteer instead, im happy to do that, its just that the scrub in pouhon and paul freyer really kills me

Drop 1 click on rear wing on aggressive setup that should do.
IMO porsche has mid speed(under 140km/hr)understeer instead of high speed because to me once the car has enough speed the front generates good downforce i mean look at those 2 big dive planes !

Did you see this amazing overtake from Kevin "Big Balls" Estre on the Döttinger Höhe, with half the Car on the Gras. Oh Boy, this was an amazing Race.
Btw the Porsche is my to go Car.
I bites you hard sometimes, but its the most fun to Drive Car in My opinion.

I'm from Germany, but I always watch such races in English, because the commentators really go through the roof when something exciting happens.
You just need to hear the passing of Estre in German and then in English, then you know what I mean.
    I love english broadcasting

  12. It's a fun car to make setups for! Balancing the camber and aero took tons of trial and error, and weight transfer was fixed through a few crude damper adjustments.
Not usually the fastest, and needs a great driver to truly shine (especially managing that tire wear!).

Has anyone experimented with overfueling the car for a short race? As the fuel is stored in the front it acts as a ballast which may help the front end turning performance... I can feel the front end sliding more as a stint goes on so maybe there's something to be found there.

Thanks for the write up Aris. The Porsche is indeed a very interesting car to drive. Not that easy, but once you got to grips with the car it's quite fun while still challenging :)

    Not really, P4 in class/ P12 overall.

Love the Porsche but do in most decent sims, I'm a Lambo fan really but this Porsche gives me a work out and is a challenge, it's a real point and shoot drive, yes it's not quickest but it's ability to exploit corners makes it competitive, the Porsche and Lambo are my go to cars.

Outstanding job creating this read, Aristotelis. These car descriptions fundamentally helped me to understand the character of this car and others and should definitely be in the game. Same goes for others of your texts like the GT series description. This is AAA content! Thanks.

After driving the 488 for a bit, I actually ended up driving the 911 for quite a bit now.
Initially I thought that it's way to *****y in some corners, but I found that when I'm using the aggressive setup with slightly reduced rear ARB and higher diff-lock preload it's quite stable.
For me one of the biggest issues with the setup as provided was the sensitivity to load changes.
After that it was a pleasurable drive and also not too shabby on the lap times, but in contrast to the 488, it feels like there is more time in opitimizing the setup rather than improving my driving style.

Looking forward to the 2019 version of the car. :)
