1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Thinking about hosting a server (non-GT3 races)

    Hey everyone!

I’m kind of tired of all those GT3 servers so I’m thinking about hosting my own server via Rackservice to run races with a little more challenging cars like Group C, Ferrari 312T, maybe the Porsche 935 and so on.

Cars and track changing every two weeks, 15 minutes qualifying, 20 minutes race or something like that. I’m also thinking about making the server MR A/B.

What do you guys think? Is this something that may be successful? I’m obviously not interested in having a server that’s not used by anyone. The server will be located in Europe.

Only one way to find out.:D
If it can help you I like the
part. having the same combo for a while will allow to be good at it, which, in my book leads to better , more consistent racing.
Longer race should help the usual impatient, have to win on T1, type driver to be more patient. One can hope!
    Looking forward to try it.:)

I am currently in the process of finding out. Well, sort of … ;)

We're running multi class races each Thursday evening. One setup is with Group C cars (only 962C+787B currently due to balancing) and DTM cars, the other one is with 935, 917K, the 911 3.0 RSR and the Cobra.
Note that it's more oriented towards endurance races (60min) rather than recurring races. But if it's successful, I might think about alternatives for everyday's racing.
You can find the information about that in this thread:
    https://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/green-hell-trackday-multiclassics-server.44328/

The rest of the week, the server is set up for Tourist trackdays, which is usually well populated (although it's empty right now).

We did one test race evening with each car collection with a setup quite close to what you wrote about (10min quali, 2×15min race) and the reception was very well.
Have to warn you though, that racing in these cars is not always the easiest, we had a lot of people struggling to keep the faster cars on the road.

Regarding the classic open wheelers: I'm not so sure that a public server dedicated to them would be successful.
I've been in quite some races with the 312T, 72D and 98T and it almost always ended with me being alone after around 5 laps in the race, because I seemed to be the only one on the server being able to control these cars at decent speed.
I know that sounds a bit arrogant, but it really was like that.
If however you've got a group of competent people around you, then racing these cars can be a lot of fun as well. But in this case, I'd probably go to ALOOG1 and ask andy to set it up for me, because I know that the people joining there can drive (much better than me actually).

To be honest, in my experience (been doing admin stuff on SF Classic Blend for a couple of months now) it will mainly mean that the server is populated on day one and maybe day two and then will sit empty for the rest of the two weeks.

Personally, I'm all for trying to get close to perfection on a single car/track combo, but I have my doubts that that will work out (if you want to have a populated server).
However, you guys might want to team up with @Sleeper Service, who I know has similar intentions.

I am surprised more such servers aren't up and getting good regular use, Europe has a huge user base and having more options for clean racing in different cars cant be a bad thing. To get the server going however you will likely need to try to get it going running on your own early, if you have some friends to join once you get to 5 or 6 in the server it tends to attract many more. Ive ran servers with all those and actually have 6 servers up 24/7 with most unused. But if I jump in any combo to run laps or any other regulars it can get a decent crowd in but also I am in Australia with 23 million people within 100 ping range where Europe would have a couple billion at least in the same are so should easily get a better turnout.

Running the trickier cars even with MR AB some guys will tend to struggle but I've had races at Nords in Group C on my AB server and most other tracks without too much issues. These servers here rarely fill and the funny thing GT servers here are quieter then all other combo's I had a gt3 server up for ages with hardly anyone running in it. Was able to fill street cars fairly often or really any combo once it gets to 10 or so in they will usually fill. But Also even at AB the worst drivers tend to only join when the server is full or nearly full and in my case this also includes lots coming from europe with 350+ pings, many in say they wish they had such servers in europe so I think with a bit of work you can get it going.

The key is no matter the combo, even if people would rather race that then whatever servers are full 95% of all users will never join an empty server so they always stay empty. This needs some people to get it going most of the time the admins will do this, once you get a few people familiar with the server then down the line they may also look for it when empty and help get it started other nights.

I'd been thinking of doing something similar but real life has been getting in the way sadly :( Last night was the first night I fired up AC in a couple of weeks....

The idea about long interval rotation of tracks and cars is fine, allowing people to develop setups and maybe follow the advice of @Aristotelis in his video series, but maybe every two weeks is a little long, I was thinking about weekly. People seem to have really short attention spans these days ;)

I was also thinking of not having too many car choices at one go, maybe 3 or 4. This would allow slightly more competitive groupings instead of trying to find maybe 10 cars that are fairly equally matched spread across the grid and certainly not using the ballast system for BoP. Maybe run a single make event now and then, once you get a handle on the content that people like is also something to add possibly so that performance is directly related to an individuals ability to race and setup rather than just choosing the fastest car in the group. Not easy though when you have hugely different levels of skill, equipment and attitude ;)

I was also thinking about using MR ABC in a way to try and encourage the attitude of race-craft over win at all costs (usually at T1L1 :D), may have to go through some pain but worth a shot imho.

Good luck with it, I'll keep an eye out and join in occasionally once real life starts to get back to more normal levels. My run out last night lit the fires of passion again and the last race of the evening was huge fun. GT86 grid at Silverstone GP, started 4th, finished 6th and had a 6 lap long epic fight with 4 other drivers (full grid too). Huge FUN

@smeisinger I'd be much interested and I think a good concept would be to cycle through the single make race cars like the 500 race car, the m235i racing, the 599, Porsche 911 cup and Huracan...kind of a cup car race server.

Just an idea: streetfight has a very active userbase and the admin @Gunja has achieved very good racing quality by assigning a lot of reliable guardians with admin rights. You guys might want to cooperate. I'd certainly watch over your server when I race there.

Just a suggestion, of course ;-)

Actually was thinking already in that direction, but I'm not yet convinced that a series of single-make cup events is really the way to go.

But we do have the experimental server 3 (the one that often hosts Classic Blend), on which we already did similar stuff, so it would be possible.
Gunja wanted to cancel that server (as 2 servers would be sufficient and I agree), but at least for the moment, it is still going.

Edit: to give you an example: I did some laps on my Tourist server in the Praga yesterday and I liked it much more than previously.
So much actually that I think a cup event in this would be a nice thing.
The Escort is very popular on the Tourist server, so that would be a hot candidate as well.

I prefer street legal cars of all types and it was really hard to find a server with somewhat balanced choice of cars. Like that wasn't hard enough, it was even harder to populate.
When i finally decided to take the matter in my own hands, i was extremely lucky that my server attracted some of the best community members who agreed to help administrating.
But i also very much like GT3 racing and to be fair "all of those GT3 servers" are very dangerous for ones MR grade. Most run without MR and when they do, it's MR ABCDN.
Now i try to kickstart a MR AB GT3 server to see if it is possible to have fair and clean daily racing with such competitive cars. Story will be the same no matter the class of cars.
It will be a lot of admin work and time wasted sitting in the box to populate, until the server get's a nice base of resident racers.

Main reason I started running servers is to put up what I want, not necessarily what others do but then others can join especially as many were racing cars I didnt feel like it. I think if he goes for the server should just try and set it as he wants and see how that goes, I am amazed at the random combos that can get busy just because a few are already in it.

Same. Busiest combo we had of late was a race car and 2 track day cars all on track together, 1 of which was much too fast for the others and their differences on track didnt promote decent/fun racing. Went on the next morning and it was still populated! Then when we run balanced road cars from the same era or the little cup racing MX5 & Abarth together or even the 2 GT4 cars (with equivalent aids) the server stays empty.

Thanks guys for all the replies!

Since nobody was negative about it, I just bit the bullet and ordered the server.

I'm not really "in the community" which might make the start quite hard but I'm eager to see how things turn out :)

I'll post when the server is up. Any suggestions for a first combo?
