Generic We need proper tyre sounds!

I love Assetto Corsa, in fact I play AC more than iRacing nowdays, because the ease of access.. There is ONE thing that always stands out in iRacing, and that is the tyre sound!! I miss that in Assetto Corsa!.. In iRacing, I can judge my tyre grip solely on the wonderful tyre sound it provides.. Most of the times in Assetto Corsa, when I lose the grip, I have no idea why I lost it.. It's because the tyre sound is so bad, or even lacking! The only tyre sound in AC is a James Bond like tyre screech..

I really hope this will improve. Have a go at iRacing, crank the tyre sound up, and you'll hear what I mean.

 

I found the tire sound even better in the pre release candidate releases of AC. The very first release(s), .. . You could hear even exactly which tire (left or right) was squealing, which I liked very much.
With later releases it got more simplified and all this detail that once was there got lost. Probably with the usage / introduction of fmod it got lost, or even before that.

 

Yeah I agree.. I also remember the RC and early access ones. It had a lot better sound at that time.. But that is the sound in general that was better before.. Right now I'm talking about the tyre sound only.. Because in my opinion, that's the biggest problem.

 

You play A.C. on console and iRacing on PC?

I agree with OP. The tires sound like as if cars are running on rims all the time even on easy turns, are annoying and a big disconnect for me as well.

 

Do not feel the same. Like new exterior sound. Probably, can't say this about interior and it should be more close for road-legal sport and super cars. As well, as change of interior skid records.

However on OP.

I'm still undecided on the new tire screeching sounds. To me they remind me of the GT6 screeching sounds. In some cases they seem a bit exaggerated but this might be just because up to now they were heard a bit in the background.

 

Yeah, no PC only I chose generic label on the thread.. When it comes to tyre sound, iRacing is unmatched.. It's like I can feel the tarmac only by sound. It matter so much!

But seeing the incredible progress that Kunos have done the past years, and especially with the latest updates, I have faith that sound will improve aswell. I just wanted to make them aware.

I was adding my remarks for the pc version as well.

 

I feel iRacing and AMS are very similar in how they communicate tire noise; in either case, the tire sounds serve as a constant indicator of how hard we are pushing the grip levels, when grip is lost and to what extent. AC tire sounds currently lack the same level of refinement and overall tire sound & range of effects but, I'm certainly happy with any improvement Kunos can bring.

 

Yeah.. To be more spesific, in iRacing you will hear the tyres rolling on the tarmac. As you make your turn, the rolling sounds slowly transfers over to sliding sound. It's a very gentle transition, and you can feel (hear) the tyres throughoutly whilst driving. I love it.. Tyres in AC is dead silent, and then suddenly, in a turn, it throws a james bond-like tyre screetch at your face with 100% intensity. I think sound should be their next improvement. It will vastly lift the feel of the game!!
