1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap #80 - The champion without the crown

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap #80 : The champion without the crown
    The Challenge.
    Car: Toyota TS040 Hybrid 2014
    Track: Spa

    Assetto Corsa_1.jpg
    Carro_2.jpg
Thinking about Toyota racing in highest level of the endurance world, there's something that cames into my mind. A collection of 13 child books by american author Daniel Handler called "A series of unfortunate events",that tells us the tales of the turbulent lifes of three children.
But these books could very well tell us the story of Toyota at Le Mans.
Don't you tell me there is no such thing as magic or curses, because Toyota is the living proof that someone once did some voodoo mambo jambo that actually worked. No one can have as much bad luck as the brave japanese team that despite so many hard blows in the face when everything seemed to play well for them, still shows up every year to fight for that race.Just to freshen up your memory, the most scandalous cases:
1994- Toyota leads the race until the car breaks down 1h30m from the end after leading most of the race.
1998- Two different GT-One's lead the race, both had mechanical problems that put them bellow the grid.Still no giving up for them, they fought to recover the 1st place. They did it...until two hours from the chequered flag.Gearbox problems if i remember correctly.
    1999- "Hey,things can't get any worse than last year,right team?Banzai charge!" Well,leading the race
only to have a puncture roughly 2 laps from the end of the race is even more frustating.
2014- Crashes and the usual mechanical failures.
2016 - The leading Toyota stops right in front of the pits without power on the hybrid engine,on what would be it's last lap.
    2017- Crashes the usual mechanical failures,part 2.
I've always had a huge sympathy for Toyota. It's my family car brand,we always drove Toyotas due to their realibity that strangely doesnt go from roads to the tracks.Every year i'm rooting for Toyota and every year i feel disapointment. I truly hope yhey win this year!
The TS040 debuted in 2014 and reached immediate glory by winning the WEC that same year, although the big objective was lost. A champion without the crown then. This one is fast and reaches very high speeds,so hold our breath and try to replicate what Toyota did last week-go fast as well until victory!

    Pista_2.jpg
Spa was choosen because of the last week 6h race,so not much to tell about it - no combo trial,no "feel report" or reasons because it can be fun.But it is fun - Spa and Toyota together make very a nice couple indeed, and going flat out on Eau Rouge and smashing the KERS for top speeds after it it's always nice! :)

    The Rules.
    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Factory
    Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

    The Deadline.
    Sunday May 20h 2018 - 22:00 GMT.

    How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the Toyota TS040 2014 Hybrid and head to Spa. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple :) All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier. Also,to avoid mistakes on laptimes, please enter them with the format x.xx.xxx. This format makes it easier to work with Excell.
A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leaderboard but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

Good luck and have fun ;)

Great combo choice Hugo! Although I've always stuggled to race decent with a hybrid and push the right buttons.

Wow. I wasn't sure what to expect, since I rarely use LMP1 cars and especially the Toyota (of the three). I'm at a loss of words, but I will say the adrenaline was flowing rapidly through just the first few turns. Furthermore, I felt like I was in a GT3 car through tighter bends and an F1 car in the high-speed kinks and sweepers.

As for the thread title, I suppose that sums up my overall (proper) first impressions of the TS040. Definitely not getting any crowns on this challenge because of the experience and talent barriers, but I'm not too concerned about that. However, I'd still like to beat out @Laughing Gravy if possible! haha

And two thumbs up to all your recent posts regarding Spa and such @BrainsBush !

Chris, for me it's mostly been a case of practice, lots and lots of practice.

I've mentioned in previous posts resources that I found helpful. Driver61 has a great series on improving driving style, covering things like understanding grip and weight transfer, dealing with oversteer and understeer, cornering and improving track vision. Watching lap analyses on the virtual racing school YouTube channel also helped. I found reviewing my own replays useful too. Not the AC replays, but replays captured on the PS4 so I can see brake and throttle control.

I'm running out of juice at Blanchimont, the run into the chicane is laborious. Optimising the hybrid settings are obviously critical to laptime excellence here, I'm fumbling in the dark, anyone know how to use our 6MJ best?
To Chaos Chris, I'm not the top 20% but it is practice. Braking into corners is where we lesser mortals loose time. The more efficient you are at slowing the car and getting onto the right line into the corner the better, so that's a thing to focus on. Be a kerb hunter. (I was told that by an instructor sitting next to me on the Hanger Straight at Silverstone as we approached Stowe waay too fast!)

Screenshot at the end of the clip.

High downforce, setup on soft tyres, sorry I forgot the tyre widget! I really have no clue about downforce cars, just getting my head around the hybrid system will take a week!

[Edit]I have it MGU deployment set to low preserve, some manual boost being used, Recovery is set to 70 on this run (Console users only for that one). No idea what difference that makes though![/edit]

I’ve seen this thing race at Silverstone in 2015, it was first experience of LMP1 and it was simply jaw dropping, the way they decimate everything else out of slow corners, not to mention the speed carried in the really fast stuff! There was some truly epic racing in the LMP1H era  a shame that it is now in decline :( saying that I will still be back at Silverstone for the WEC this year :)

Hell of a lot of practice needed here, But it’s ace.
Wasn’t sure how far behind I was so I didn’t post this yesterday. But hopefully improve it over the week once I get used to this amazing beast of a car.

Question...... does the recovery setting effect the braking in any way?
