1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap #98 - Grand Prix Legend
    The Challenge.

    Car: Lotus Type 49
    Track: Spa

    Assetto Corsa_1.jpg

In 1952, a young 24 year old british engineer called Colin Chapman founded a company which he named "Lotus Engineering Ltd", and the first cars ever produced by this new company were sportscars made for endurace racing. A couple of years later, now with the name of "Team Lotus", the british green cars were already achieving success in both sportscar and F2 categories. This encourage Chapman to venture his company on the highest level of motoracing:F1.
The late 50's saw interesting performances from Lotus, and in the early 60's, the team was now a very respected force in the grid. The first victory came not in one of the works cars but under the hands of Stirling Moss, driving the Lotus 18 for Rob Walker Racing Team at Monaco in 1960.Officialy,the first victory for Lotus was in the 1961 USA GP, with Innes Ireland at the wheel.
The Team Lotus was now one of the big teams. The Lotus 25 proved to be the best car on the grid (perhaps because of Jim Clark's skill) and the 1963 championship went to England. Colin Champman's creative and innovate designs and philosophy were paying off:a huge adept of design performance rather than to use brute horsepower and very stiff springs, he famously remarked "Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtrating weight makes you faster everywere". However, the seasons went by,engines became more powerfull and Lotus started to loose the ground they conquered.Champman had to re-think his approach to cars because the 1967 season was going very bad.And then, the 49 appeared.
Arguably the most legendary and greatest of all Lotus cars ever made, Chapman took inspiration on the 1965 Indy 500 winner Lotus 38 to design a car around the Ford Cosworth DFV engine. The 49 only entered the grid in mid-season but was good enough to win most races and give the Brabham cars a run for their money for the title, losing the title only due to reliablity issues. The Team Lotus was back on the highlights again, and if the 1967 was lost to Brabham, the 1968 championship was conquered without much trouble, even though Jim Clark passed away early in the season on a F2 race. The big prize went on to Graham Hill. The V8 Cosworth engine was the most powerfull of grid, and generated 410 bhp. That, along with Chapman philosofy of having lightweight cars, made the 49 a bit difficult to handle at first, with sudden bursts of power that Graham Hill had reservations about. But overall,it was a easy and responsive car to drive once the driver got the feel of it.
The 49 raced until mid season of 1970 with many modifications and different variants. Every single one of those variants won at least one grand prix.

How badly i wanted a historical version of Spa for this challenge!I'm sorry for all Spa fans out there (i know there are billions and billions) but this track is nothing and it's quite boring compared to the 14km high speed - near death at every inch of the track and people are absolutely crazy to race here i'm out this scares me a lot! - monster of a track that was the original layout of Spa. So,we will have to settle with this not so great Spa, that still gives some fun with the Lotus, although that has more to do with the car. The combo classic Spa/classic F1 is amlmost as classic a...well,the track and car. There are probably mods out there for the old version, so PC guys - i'm very jealous of you! :p

    The Rules.
    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Factory
    Stability: Free

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

    The Deadline.
    Sunday October 7th 2018 - 21:00 GMT.

    How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the Lotus Type 49 and head to Spa. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple :) All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier. Also,to avoid mistakes on laptimes, please enter them with the format x.xx.xxx. This format makes it easier to work with Excell.
A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leaderboard but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

Good luck and have fun ;)

Good choice Hugo. Colin Chapman was really a unique guy and he invented so much for the car industry and Motorsports. So happy Birthday Lotus. 70 years old now but the cars are still young, not so light in their weight as 50 years ago but com'on who's won't gained weight when we get older. By the way Hugo, I would also like to drive this beauty in AC on Historic Spa. I really like the nowadays spa layout nevertheless hystoric spa is crazy and uncomparable. By the way you can drive this car on historic spa in PC2.

If my memory serves, this event marks the two year anniversary of the WHC on these forums.

Well done to all those that have been involved over that time, and to @Hugo Catarino for taking the time to keep I running, I know know the effort that it requires!

Quite a tricky combo for the anniversary...
What a brilliant contest WHC has been! Very well done to you for kicking this off Graveltrap and to all those who have kept it running.
Horrified to read about your incident last week Sissydriver and echo the thoughts of the others.
Hugo, I would skip GTs! I don't play online, I accept that it's a game with its own merits, but for me the driving feel, having experienced AC, is not at all satisfying. It's all opinion:D

Managed to get down from 2:34 but I’m usually 4-5 seconds off on a Monday so I suspect the Aliens will be around 2:22’s or lower very soon.
    Really nice combo again Hugo.
Very tricky for me to control this car though, it’s gonna take some time to get to grips with it,
Slipping and sliding all over the place.

Thanks man! I don't expect to see it counted obviously but I couldn't resist as I love that little Ferrari! When we race these on GRC I always choose the red one.

Agree with the comments about classic Spa being a bit scary (understatement of the century) there is an RF2 rip for AC and the Masta Kink catches me out pretty much every time!

Haha yeah I took the 312 :D It didn't do too well in 67, not a pole, win or even fastest lap throughout but it is fun to try in the underdog! Might of taken this WHC in a Brabham-Repco but not happening in the Ferrari!

I would love to have Brabhams!i heard David Brabham sorted out licencising issues and he's more than willing to see his fathers cars represented,so im expecting to see brabhams in future racing games!

Oh,and your laptime is awsome, you really pushed the hell out of that Lot...WAIT A SECOND! :p

If memory right, serves me right Ferrari only got a 3rd in '67,by Chris Amon in the British GP but maybe i'm wrong

But the person to be celebrated is @John Gordon ,he's the one who originally came up with the WHL.i dont know if he's still around but your simple yet great ideia still lives today!

Speaking about special ocasions,we are approaching the #100,and i have a crazy ideia to celebrate it :p
