Car: Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport
Track: Highlands Drift


This week the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, by special request.

I know this track may not be to the liking of the purists, but having tried a wide range of more classical circuits for this week’s combi, Highlands Drift really shows off the fantastic abilities of the Cayman Clubsport. It’s a great bit of road with long, flat, smooth curves, allowing you to feel the lovely balance, tenacious grip and to give the flat 6, 3.8L mid-mounted aluminium motor some stick. According to the RSR table the Highland Drift hotshoe’s lap time to beat is 2:06.170, which I think sets the bar quite high, but I also think you’ll enjoy trying to better it.

Here is what Porsche say about the GT4 Clubsport; This is a quote taken straight from the marketing literature;

“The Cayman GT4 Clubsport represents pure motorsport. The recipe is well known and proven: lightweight, well-balanced performance. Whether driving it at a track day or in wheel-to-wheel competition, it is in its element. But be careful: the more you drive it, the less you want to stop. The GT4 Clubsport is more than a commitment to the racetrack, it is a declaration of addiction to motorsport.”

Keep a straight face, you have been warned!

Keeping the mood going, here’s a picture of me outside one of my holiday houses.

You too can ring up Porsche Motorsport and buy a real one for around £95,000.

Recommended tyre pressure for the Hard Slicks is 27psi all round with a temp range of 75-100

How to take part - Hot lap:
To enter, select Drive > Hotlap, choose the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport and the Highland Drift Circuit. Please setup the session using the settings below:

Mode: Hotlap Highland Drift
Time of day: Free
Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability: Free

To qualify for WHC you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.
Deadline: Sunday 3rd February 2019 - 21:00 GMT.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, it’s simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.
To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!
Please post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

This car has way too much downforce for this track... I think a car that naturally wants to drift like the lotus 25, or Maserati 250f would have been more fun here.

I have posted a vid of my lap and I can post the setup for anyone who wants it as well. If you already have the setup market, download Labbe's tune for Zandvoort but it might need some slight modifications.

I'm getting that dodgy throttle connection in the last third of the rev band again It must be costing me about 4 secs

 

I'm sorry to hear that, I tried many different circuits for this week's combi. I liked the adhesion and way the car flowed around here on the relatively smooth tarmac followed by the chaos of the cobbles at the finish. On many of circuits I tried, the "Porsche bobble" was very prominent. By bobble, I mean that off-putting, noddy, bouncing front suspension which seems to be a feature of the Porsche cars in the game, as discussed in many previous WHC forums.
I've been aiming for variety in my WHCs, so next week will hopefully be more to your liking.
