1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread.
  2. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again.   1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #134 – "Stepping up to worship the bull."
    As we are between Mini-series, this week’s challenge is a one-off. Or rather; it’s a two-off. Set your time with either car or with both. There will be a leader board for each car and a combined leader board, adding both times, for those that enter both cars. Many thanks to Tibor Solyom for the extra admin!

    The Challenge:
    Car: Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera Step 3 and/ or Lamborghini Countach S1
    Track: Monza GP Circuit
    This week it is tuned Lamborghinis at the Cathedral of Speed. Let’s pray!
    As the famous saying goes, “I feel the need…the need for speed!” And then you try the Gallardo Step 3 and think, wooh, not that much speed!!!
    For those of you trying the Gallardo Step 3, you’ll need to pray very hard indeed!
    The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera Step 3 is very much less manageable than a rodeo ride and I think borderline undriveable. Never mind negotiating the long sweepers, it will spit you off with all wheels pointed straight. Accelerate and the power arrives suddenly, brutally and very massively. Almost immediately, if you’ve kept it straight, you’ll discover that you’ve flown past the correct braking point by about half a kilometre.
    If you do hook it up and keep straight it feels like a lottery win, but the chances of doing so are less likely. Why is that? Here’s an excerpt from the Assetto Corsa car database to help explain and interestingly refers to something we may experience this week: The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera Step 3 has…
    “A bi-turbo highly modified engine that is capable of doing more than 850bhp on pump fuel and more than 1200bhp on race fuel and full turbo boost.
    The chassis has also been tuned accordingly with stiffer springs and dampers all around. Nevertheless you better watch out when you decide to give full boost. The performance is simply out of this world and the car can spin all four tyres in Curva Grande at Monza in 6th gear... Remember, you need to brake 1 to 2 km before every turn as it takes some space to slow down from ultrasonic speeds!”

    Very alarmingly the Step 3 is not a fantasy car. If you have a Gallardo, a number of tuners offer a twin turbo conversion for the 5 litre V10, which will bring you up to the 1200BHP mark… But even more alarmingly there is also a Step 4!!!!
    Enough of the madness, for those of you not into “Bulldogging” (seriously, look it up!) we have the supercar poster boy, the sublime Lamborghini Countach. Apparently the name Countach originated not from the word for “medallion nestles in hairy chest,” but in fact from the word “contacc,” an “exclamation of astonishment” in the Piedmontese language. So I wonder what they would have called the Gallardo Step 3 then? “F*****g H*ll!!” ???
    The Countach was designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone and 1,983 were produced and sold between 1974 and 1990. It was powered by a Lamborghini V12 which dated from 1963 and was designed by Giotto Bizzarrini. In the first few years of production this was a 4 litre unit. Lamborghini had wanted to use a 5 litre version, but the prototype of this engine self-destructed during a 1971 road test in Wales with a chap called Bob Wallace driving. Fourteen years later Lamborghini had cracked it and in 1985 they launched the Countach LP500, the V12 now with 5.2 litres, 4 valves per cylinder and 6 Webber “downdraft” carburettors. This produced around 450hp, or just over a quarter of power offered by the Gallardo Step 3 and it feels much better for it!
    In the early 80s Lamborghini came to do a photo shoot for the Countach at my school. There was a green one, a white one and a red one! Being small for my age it was strange to be able to see over the top of a car, the roof is at hip height. Sitting in the driver’s seat is never to be forgotten, the feeling was like nothing I’d experienced. But the cockpit must have made the car impossible to drive with any feeling of safety. The windscreen dominates and is wide and huge. It starts from an extraordinary distance away across the top of the dash and is sloped to almost flat. It means there is no headroom and it feels claustrophobic. However it’s not a problem because you have to lie down to stretch to the offset pedals and the seat reclines horizontally away to, for me at the time, the out-of-reach steering wheel. But it is, in fact, a very benign drive, most especially if you’ve just stepped out of the Step 3 Gallardo! You can pour it into the corners and get on the power early, you can even trail brake with some confidence. And what a noise that urges you on! The sound of the induction from those Webbers greedily sucking in air as the revs build is as fantastic as it is now prehistoric. You can almost feel the aerated fuel cocktail being mixed and served to the thirsty V12. Intoxicating!

    Autodromo di Monza – The Cathedral of Speed if you are an F1 fan. If you are a MotoGP fan, Assen is the Cathedral of Speed. Despite it being right up there as one of the world’s greatest circuits, Monza GP has only been used three times in the whole of the WHC history. I have to say, it’s not my favourite because once you’ve aced the first chicane, you then spend the rest of the week trying to catch that ghost. But every time you get on to the circuit, you realise it’s a good challenge and more fun than you remember. So pray for a top lap and enjoy the bulls!

    Both cars have Street and Semislick options for the tyres, recommended pressures are as follows:
    Gallardo Superleggera Step 3
    ..Street: fronts at 37psi, rears are 39psi.
    ..Semislicks are 33psi all round.
    Countach S1
    ..Street: Fronts at 37psi, rears at 43psi.
    ..Semislicks: Fronts at 35psi Rears at 41psi.

    How to take part - Hot lap:
    To enter, select Hotlap, choose either the Lamborghini Countach S1 or Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera Step 3 or post a time with both and the Monza GP circuit. Please setup the session as shown below:
    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Free
    Stability: Free

    To qualify for WHC you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.
    Deadline: Sunday 30th June 2019 - 21:00 GMT.

    You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like. It is all about taking part, testing yourself and enjoying Assetto Corsa. All Platforms are welcome.
    To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!
    Please post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

    Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League
    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 15 2nd 14 3rd 13 4th 12 5th 11 6th 10 7th 9 8th 8 9th 7 10th 66
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread.

    The updated Championship league table will be displayed eventually in the Console Lounge.
    At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, Bonus points count, then Champ points)

    This will be my 100th weekly. Two Lamborghini cars make for a great anniversay.
    You got supercars as a school visit?

    Wish I'd gone to your school.

    We just got a probation officer putting the fear of God into us as to what would happen if we ended up in Barlinnie.
    Assen's not what it was. The banked corners of the North Loop sadly lost to history. Less cathedral, more parish church now.
    And so to Monza. :)
    They were on about changing it a couple of years ago. Getting rid of the first chicane, bypassing Curva Grande and losing the Della Roggia chicane. I don't know if anything more has been made of this proposal.

    I started at #25 but have missed a few along the way. I can think of a few others who have done plenty more. You know who you are fellas. :)

    I once had a "discussion" on a different thread with another console player. I said the pc game would keep evolving and would maintain players indefinitely; whereas I thought AC on consoles would die out within a year. He disagreed.

    That was over two years ago now. He was right & I was wrong.

    It may well be "AC Light" compared to the pc version, but it's still got something that no other console title has.

    Did you have turbo on 100% ? How did you find the braking?
    I’ve just had to do do 6 restarts and didn’t make it past the first chicane on any.
    Feels like you have to start braking well before the 300m sign

    Wow. This is the most I've played AC in awhile over just these past few days. Figured I have a go at this challenge in the middle of my session. Seems I kind of still have it, but this car in particular was one of the few cars in the game I had trouble with then and apparently still have trouble with. To me, driving this thing is like throwing dice. I've no idea what I'm going to get under braking or acceleration!

    I think I like stupidly overpowered cars and ridiculous levels of boost more than the average person, but ******* HELL this thing is weapons grade!

    Yeah I think you have to weigh anchor around the 400 mark for T1, and this is the only car I can remember where you can't go flat through Curva Grande :O

    Couple of crashes at 100 boost, time to reign it in and try again with 90, I have already placed a reservation for braking for T1, I think you need to book well in advance to avoid disappointment :D

    100 (turbo) all day! Even more quality entertainment to be had without ABS and TC. But yes, braking into T1 and going through that Curva Grande is not so straightforward with this missile.

    Anyway, I said awhile back I'd have photos to share. So here you go!

  16. 100% boost? But of course!
    NB: I was on Street tyres...
    Braking point for turn 1, after many goes, was when I could see the numbers on the 300m board, so possibly around 400m. It then took several goes to get round Curva Grande, solution was to short shift into 5th and tread like on eggshells.
    The next dangerous place is on the straight after Lesmo 2. The kink left, Curva del Serraglio, requires a slight lift!!
    Braking for Variante is about 200m before the bridge and Parabolica is very, very tricky. The Bull is absolutely determined to spear right, into the wall or into the pits in one case for me! Short shifting is the answer.
    I wrote-off about 12 Lambos to get the lap time.
    I'm moving to semi-slicks.
    Lower boost might yield a better lap time.

    I’m really not familiar with monza, i always thought it looked an easy track but I never seem to get it right unless it’s an F1 car.
    Especially the first chicane.

    I’ve just tried the countach and just about got a 2:08 so it’s not looking too good at the moment.

    Tsk tsk. I know better than to buy any of this junk! By the end of the week you'll be near (or possibly even at) the top of the leaderboard with the Gallardo. Reminds me of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes downplaying themselves and talking up Ferrari's chances heading into each race weekend, only to roast them good come the main event! Ferrari being winless so far this year and Porsche losing in both 24h races this month has me rather sad, so big up STL Blues and Weekly Hotlap for making and keeping June great!

    Oh, and this challenge reminded me once again of this video from years ago. Still a classic in my book! 3:30 is where the fun really starts...

    Going to throw in random Countach video too just because... haha
