1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge 200 – The double ton!

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Oct 10, 2020.

  1. A huge welcome to this week’s WHC - The 200th Weekly Hotlap Challenge! We’ve hit the double ton!!!

On the evening of Sunday 3rd October 2016, a forum member called John Gordon posted the first Weekly Hot Lap Challenge thread, certainly having no idea what he had started. Two weeks later Graveltrap took the wheel for a long stint and here we are, many drivers and four years later.., it’s WHC200!
    upload_2020-10-10_17-37-41.png
WHC200 is a double game, multiple event, three week, driving championship challenge and we’re going to pass the 200 milestone at two hundred miles an hour. (321.869 km/h)

    WHCs are made by you.
Playing, sharing, struggling, discussing, helping, improving and and enthusing.

To mark this occasion and celebrate our community, @moodyryder has designed a livery and produced this superb video as a tribute:

Lovely idea, lovely film, cheers Moody!

So the 200th WHC is a “thank-you!” to you all for making it all such fun!

With a focus on speed, here is a festival of Assetto Corsa events and challenges to tackle over the next three weeks. My big thanks to @Pretend racer, WHC co-poster, for his support and his innovative and excellent WHCs. Also thanks to @moodyryder for his help and input and @Graveltrap for technical support!

Lady and gentlemen, start your engines!

    The Events:

    WHC200 Event AC1 - Hotlaps - Half a century at the Nordschleife – FxxK v 250GTO
Cars: Ferrari FxxK and/ or Ferrari 250 GTO
    Track: Nordschleife
    Ambient Temp: 10degC
    upload_2020-10-10_17-41-21.png
Produced in 1962, the 250 GTO is a high performance, limited production, track day car manufactured by Ferrari for homologation into the FIA's Group 3 Grand Touring Car category. Just 36 were made, between 1962 and 1964.
Produced in 2015, the FXX-K is also a high performance, limited production, track day car manufactured by Ferrari, this time not intended for competition, but developed to give “an uncompromising experience to the driver.
Uncompromising experience? That could be the experience of being instantly poor if you crash it, or the experience of sh*tting yourself with fear, in case you crash it!
Only 40 cars were built, they cars are kept and maintained by Ferrari and only available to the owners on Ferrari organised track day events.

You’ll hit the double ton as you arrive at Tiergarten.
Trying to drive the FxxK fast didn’t work for me. It was a battle that I very quickly lost. It bucks and bounces, twitches, slides and spurts power. Chill out, (sort of,) brake early, let it settle, squeeze the throttle softly, let the car do the work and it is easier. And faster.
PC players have no option to adjust regen, so may have to switch to Charging engine mode for parts of the lap. Consolers should be fine at 80% Regen. GoodGame’s time below is over 40 seconds faster than my practice!!
I would suggest running the old car first, the FxxK will take some adapting to, but once you have adapted, there’s no turning back…..
This challenge is proposed by Moodyryder, inspired by Assetto Corsa’s pack shot and Pretend racer, thoughtfully sensing some sort of balance is needed!

Twenty points if you run both cars. Please mark your entry either AC1 Fxx or AC1 GTO

    Tyres and times:
Fxx K: All slick compounds - 30 psi all round
    RSR: 6:17.293 (!) by GoodGame

250 GTO: Vintage – 40 psi all round
    RSR: 8:10.297 by GoodGame

    WHC200 Event AC2 – 2 Races - A race of two halves
Car: Shelby Cobra 427 S/C and RUF CTR Yellowbird
    Track: Silverstone International
    Ambient Temp: 26DegC
    upload_2020-10-10_17-42-1.png
Race 1, you drive a Cobra. Race 2 you drive the Yellowbird.
    We are racing!
There will be tears in amongst the joy!
Two of the most tricky, most satisfying cars to drive on Assetto Corsa!
Two Championship races: 4 Cobras v 4 Yellowbirds These cars are hard enough on a solo hot lap, let alone with the red mist of racing, so we’re at Silverstone International, which is not too complicated….

Two five lap races, between 6 mins and 6 mins 30ish in duration, will test you under pressure-cooker race conditions.

PLEASE NOTE: For this event, consolers, you must win the race, pit and hit “Session” before the last driver crosses the finish line. If you don’t win, you will not see your total race time.
So, the AI Skill and Competitive Levels are up to you, however, you must declare which level you competed at when you enter. In a quick test I was Easy in the Cobra and Medium for the Yellowbird and I ended up winning both comfortably, despite not being on pole. Ignore the Quali times set by the AI, their race laps can be up to 10 secs slower. Damage, penalties, fuel and tyre use is on, ideally use factory settings.
To enter, you must submit a combined total race time from the two races, both screenshots and the AI Skill Level you used. Once you have entered, Improvements can be added one car at a time, please update your combined time. Full instructions on how to set up are below.

    Tyre Pressures:
Cobra – Vintage, 43psi all round
Yellowbird – semislicks, 33 psi all round

Thanks to Pretend racer for the excellent choice of motors.
Twenty points for entering. Please mark you entry AC2 and for any updates please state which car.
    ------------------------------

WHC200 Event AC3 – Hotlap – The double ton. Twice!
    Car: Porsche 962C Long Tail
    Track: Monza 1966 Full Course
    Ambient Temp: 10C
    upload_2020-10-10_17-48-15.png
    A classic hot lap.
You hit the double ton twice!
The Porsche 962C appeared in 1985 and its 3 litre, twin KKK turbo, classic Porsche “flat 6” has very, very serious grunt.
Officially, it had 650bhp but most were rated at around 780bhp with 524lbs/ft of torque.
There is plenty of room on the Monza full course to explore the top end of top gear and wow, does it pull? Like a train! There’s that great feeling of turbos blowing relentless power at you. The double ton is effortless! 130-180mph is scintillating! From 190mph the violent acceleration tails off, but you’ll see 205mph plus. Please say your top speed when you enter. Just for fun….

Ten points for entering. Please mark you entry AC3

RSR - 1:59.994, by Jacub Kcrma
Tyres – All compounds: Front 30 psi, rear 32 psi

    WHC200 Event AC4 – Have your say!
This is a free and fun submission, video or still shot – your tribute to the WHC.
If anyone has any spare time left….
It could be a pic or vid of your favourite track or car, your favourite WHC something strange or something classic. You may have a WHC story or repost your best result. It could be a 200mph moment. You could propose a challenge, post a time and see who takes you on. It is pure, player content generation time!
There is a 25 Point Bonus for winning this event, so wherever you are on the overall Leader board, this could swing it for you!
    upload_2020-10-10_17-45-24.png
    1. Vid by Pretend racer on full opposite lock for an entire lap. 2. Vid of the extraordinary Voisin C6 lapping at Goodwood by Andy-R 3. The Race of Rivals at Zandvoort, race video. 4. Sissydriver looking top heavy. 5. Andy-R’s flying lap, literally.

We will hold a vote for the winning entry and the 25 point bonus at the end of the fortnight.
    ----------------------------------

    WHC200 Event AC5 - Assetto Corsa v. Assetto Corsa Competizione Hotlap AC GT3 v ACC GT3
    In either or both games:
    Car: McLaren 650S GT3
    Track: Silverstone GP
    Time: 10:00 x1
    Weather: AC – CLEAR
Weather: ACC – CUSTOM (to match AC) - Cloud at 20% Amb Temp: 10C (details and ref pic below.)
    upload_2020-10-10_17-49-33.png
A back to back, game versus game challenge at Silverstone. Submit your time from either Assetto Corsa, or Assetto Corsa Competizione, or both. There will be a combined leader board, you could be first and second!
ACC’ers will have a lap time advantage. I was 3 secs faster with ACC after just a couple of laps. The game is far more forgiving. The same inputs in AC will have you understeering, or spinning off. But you’ll feel that right away.
Twenty points if you run both games. Please mark your entry AC5 or ACC5

Best Lap AC: 1:57.690 by Ricardo Macieski
Tyres AC: McLaren 650S GT3 Slicks - 26psi all round
Best lap ACC: Best I could find for a McLaren 650S GT3 around Silverstone is 1:58:336
ACC Recommended tyre pressure - 27 psi all round
    McLaren 650S GT3 Steering Lock - 480°
    ---------------------------

WHC200 Event 6 - Assetto Corsa Competizione Challenge - Hotstint - Competizione Classico
    Car: McLaren 650S GT3
    Track: Silverstone
    Time: 10:00 x1
    Duration: 10 mins
    Weather: CUSTOM (Clear)
    upload_2020-10-10_17-50-9.png
If you’ve posted a hot lap for Challenge 5, this should be a breeze. You can take liberties / use arcade level inputs in AC Competizione that you wouldn’t and just couldn’t get away with in plain Corsa. So in comparison, you can really hurl the car around, whilst the framerate and FOV make it feel like you’re looking the wrong way down a telescope, whilst sitting on a washing machine!

Ten Points for entering. Please mark your entry ACC

Recommended tyre pressure should be around 27 psi.
    McLaren 650S GT3 Steering Lock – 480°

    ☆☆PLEASE NOTE: WHC 199 IS STILL OPEN UNTIL 18:00 (GMT+1) TOMORROW. ☆☆

I have an idea for event 4, but only for you:cool: : you have to do all the challenges in reverse gear :D, caused by the big mistake in the FxxK photo o_O:confused::eek:

Luckily, @Fab85 , incorrect formatting means your entry for AC4 cannot be accepted!:D

I don't usually have the patience to run laps at the Nordschleife, but this time I'll try it out.

  10. Despite a number of technical infringements in the formatting of the post, I will accept this rather strong entry for the AC1 Event.
    As a first go....:D:D:D;)

    That's the spirit!
Laps to run at Monza and Silverstone too....:)

My first submission WHC #1 The Devil Wears Praga,

[edit] After having a quick peak in the original thread this seems to be the first ever WHC submission  [/edit]

After many attempts, it became a case of just making it round. First spin on this lap was after the finish line.
Delighted to see the huge gap over @moodyryder 's time.:D

2nd go round. 1st run was an 6.57 but it was a very tentative effort.
I "attacked" a little more for this, but cautiously.:)

Long day / just to start, I went easy on myself with the AI level, but the AI in AC is a very curious thing!
Stock settings, other than tyre pressures and the shortest gear ratios in the Ruf.
PS - After the 250 GTO at Nords, the Cobra is a pussy.:D

    Touchè Monsieur Wrytoff.

    Many attempts?

I did two laps, no more no less and never went within four feet of the barriers.

    Slow maybe.

This car is Emma Peel, Diana Rigg of the 1960s.

    Timeless.

    You do not crash.
