Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge 210 - Pinpoint precision and a pastis

Yeah ive been slowly adding to the milwaukee collection. I think thats tool #7. Shes a keeper for sure!

I just picked something different. Not sure if it really helps or not. I just focused on the car mostly. Still gotta turn a few more laps.

Dunno if i want to do more laps. Hotlap is just about the most unrealistic part of ACC and it lacks so much that makes this simulation so great.

In the last few days I have changed some things and I like them very much.
Maybe it will help someone.

Give the simulation all the information provided by the manufacturer of the wheel.



I had 60 / 100 / 100 / 100 / 0 before.

Rotation 1080 both






Dynamic Damping (in AC gyroscopic effect) 100% and gain as you like it (dyn damp was before ~30).

FFB is now little better for me. No big deal, but i like it.

After this video I changed my FOV (21:9 29" Ultradwide Single Screen, Distance ~70cm) from 30 to 22

and Lock to Horizon from 20 to 50.



This is nearly my view as ingame (on the left there are 2cm missing or so) - it took some laps to adjust but i am VERY happy with this. Immersion from FFB and view was excellent is a little better now.
Now its time to learn how to be fast and have fun, fun, fun.

@sissydriver thanks for the great info, these are things I'm not careful about with my new setup.

@Lewisxbone your laptime is a nightmare... How do you expect me do beat that now ?
Generic question on car setup : it looks like a good practice to lower both suspensions to the lowest possible, but what do you all do with the dumper settings ? I've done a lot of practice (and my best time) with all bump/rebound to 0, but I'm really not sure what the car "prefers" (and the theorical reasons on why one should configure its dampers one way or another). I got convinced that nailing every corner has more importance than car setup, but any tip might help at this point

Paul Ricard is really special. When you drive there for the first or 10th time, you usually hate the track.
When you drive it for the 100th time, it starts to be fun.
At least for me

You begin to understand why this is a popular test track. If you make a mistake, you don't end up in the wall, you just kill a set of tires. Here the hotlap is really good - every time you cross the finish line you get a new set of tires.

 

Its special for sure. Its better in the dry for sure.

I just dont quite gel with it in the rain. You need such good stability when trail braking (which you need with all the long radius corners) and the Porsche is very on edge due to the rear end weight.

I'll throw down the challenge for anyone else to do 3 laps with the exact same time like i did haha! I cant believe i managed that.

Big improvements coming in! @Lewisxbone gets to within a second of GoodGame, @Benoit Boyadjis lands a huge 1.3 secs improvement to keep third place, @Rod100 makes a similar sized gain to hold fifth place. As does @Peggy11 although he's just pipped by @SlowGrayAudi. Great and inspiring!
ET's back! @Emmanuel Tubbiolo gets a time in, that's great to see. Top man in the circumstances, long may it continue!

But the real mover and shaker is @HandyAndy1962 !
WOW! Over three seconds up in the last two days is a spectacular gain and a great effort. That must feel rewarding!

@SlowGrayAudi defies convention three times! Dry tyres in the wet firstly, taking first place off either @sissydriver or @mike reynolds and a set of three laps with EXACTLY the same time! No prizes for that, other than our admiration and the feeling that one is a driving legend. Great work!
I've got a feeling that both behind him will be coming back, it's only a few tenths. Who will be standing on the top step by Sunday evening...?
