1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge 216 – At opposite ends of the frenetic scale

  1. Welcome to the Weekly Hotlap Challenge 216 - At opposite ends of the frenetic scale
Featuring Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione Hot Lap challenges.

    Assetto Corsa Hotlap
    Car: Alfa Romeo 4C
    Track: Laguna Seca

At the most frenetic end of the scale, this week’s challenge was proposed a while ago by GoodGame.eXistenZ and it brings out the best of the Alfa Romeo 4C.
The 4C was very eagerly anticipated, but a bit of a disappointment when it arrived. Here is a review, representative of what most journalists think, having driven the car:

“It’s an absolute blast, simple as that, a ballsy reversal of the power war that has gripped the industry’s big guns for years. But… there are a few buts. The 4C’s chassis is as sensational as you’d hope. Overall the car weighs just 925kg, and you can feel that lack of mass through your fingertips and backside. However while the 4C is stiff… it’s a total fidget, darting after cambers, sniffing left and right. It may be Lotus-like in ethos but it lacks the Elise’s finesse entirely. At times the freneticism is alarming…”

The lightweight 4C is powered by a small but rorty, 1.7 litre, four cylinder turbo. Power to weight ratio is similar to that of the Cayman S or 2015 Ford Mustang. Around Laguna Seca it feels very grippy. It turns in sharply and holds its line, the front resists understeer nicely and it has a rewarding level of thrust to fire you out of the corners.

    Away we go!

    AC Tyres and Fastest Lap:

Compared to AC, the ACC challenge car this week is at the opposite end of almost any scale you can think of.

The Bentley is Goliath. The engine is nearly 2.5 times larger, it is 75% heavier and has over twice the power. It is the car I would choose if I was entering the GT3 championships or certainly the WEC Endurance Series. I would retain the road car’s driver seat though. If you haven’t sat in the driver’s seat of a Bentley, I can tell you it is one of the finest driving experiences. Before you’ve even turned the engine over.
It is the complete opposite of frenetic.
    Quick story:
Returning from a stag party in Ishgl, Austria, we held a race. Most of us were flying back to London, two of my pals were driving back, in a Conti Speed R. Just under 600 miles. We got into our airport bound cab in the hotel car park as they pulled out of it. Our flight went smoothly with no delay. They were home, in South London, by the time we landed.

    Recommended Tyre Pressures:
Ideal GT3 dry slick operating pressures are between 27.4 psi and 28.0 psi

I was looking forward to the release of the 4C on Assetto. But even after all the years I remain dissapointed with the suspension of this car. The car has the really weird habit of having an unstable rear under braking and it tends to "bounce" while coasting. During turn in the rear loses traction, suddenly it grips and understeers. And the car only knows understeer while accelerating. In addition turn in feels a bit slow seeing how light the car is. In reports I read people claiming the suspension is unrefinded and I would agree with that statement. The Exige 240R is the much quicker car around here and you cann immediately tell it is all about the suspension. I always hoped they would bring out another revision of this car that removes all its weak points.

I'll make a much slower start.:)

The car felt better when I tested it, stock, with a full tank of fuel. Didn't notice any understeer, now there seems to be lots. Perhaps less is more, with the front camber.

I'll make a much, much slower start. At least I have 100% track grip this time; circa 6s off an alien time after a few laps makes me feel much happier than when I first tried a WHC...

Well, the operation over Xmas didn’t work, so I’m cracking on with horrible pain and very limited movement in both arms due to knackered shoulders - I can’t move them quickly, so if the car slides, it pretty much always slides the whole way. Which is fun!.

But hey, with everything in the world I should still consider myself very lucky. These 15 laps took me all of today to complete with a break between each, but pretty happy so far and sure I can improve - albeit slowly :)

Well that was a complete cock-up, nearly a whole day to set 15 laps and I’ve used the wrong bloody car - 2018 Bentley instead of the 2015. What a complete....!!!

  12. But, in light of the circumstances and effort you have put in, unless anyone has an objection, I'll be happy to include your time as submitted! :)
I hope you can sort your shoulders out and recover soon @TinPeach

Thanks guys, that’s very kind of you.

But, before the week is out I will submit a time in the correct car. It’s my shoulders that are knackered, not my eyes, so read the instructions properly in future - lol!

Despite the bad suspension, I'd use this car as a track day car too, probably under 120k GBP.[IMG]

Re Lotus, my guys head up their creative marketing brand and product launches - the subtle update to the CI, the Evija launch and their new upcoming product line-up now both the Elise and Exige are exiting stage left. Not been out to Norfolk for a while though due to the pandemic.

I have a shifter again. After one month, Fanatec have sent me a new one, rather than repair.
After several attempts this afternoon, I've managed to successfully calibrate it too! :)

Next week, (a milestone WHC!) we will be back to manual... for two of the three AC challenges coming up....

Tough end of last week WHC ! After so much effort to shake the field, couldn't find the time to try to improve. Lewis is a fine strategist, a faster driver, and always collects the low hanging fruits...
Only option, be better, faster ! Back to fight :p

And I start the week less than a second from GGE's laptime, feeling that there is (suspiciously) some time available even compared to his reference in third sector.
If, for once, you wanted to fight anyone else than me @Lewisxbone

I saw a video about FOV today and apparently I had it all wrong! I wouldn't mind your though on that. I'll leave the link at the end but you probably know it. You put down the size of the screen, the distance between your eyes and the screen and I ended up with 39 degree... that's way closer than what I'm use to. I was between 66 and 74 to have a good view up front and a better overall appreciation of a serie of apex, a bit like Goodgame's replay. I wouldn't mind to know if that's your view.. the guy on the video explain that this is the way because it's the most accurate of a real view. I have to say it felt right even though it's a new game to me know.. he says you have to get used to it.

Maybe it's a sim philosophical question... Do you want best performance and find a view that get you to that or a better immersion. I always wanted to go for the second one and I'm sure by insisting it could be even better.
