1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

What's the best way to reduce understeer in a road car?

The Lotus Exige V6 Cup is not that pushy but it's a problem at Vallelunga because of "compromise corners" which have to be taken in a higher gear than would be optimal with adjustable gearing. The combo is great fun to drive but highly technical in places and at least three corners have to be handled with patience at slightly lower RPM in the higher gear of the two available options.

With only tire pressure, F/R camber and F/R toe settings to play with (apart from suspension settings) can anyone suggest a good way to dial out some of the understeer I'm getting in certain compromise corners that involve hustling the car around the bend as fast as I can when engine speed is just a little lower than optimal? Thanks!

In terms of all street cars in general if your getting understeer its simply entering turns too fast, if you cant make the apex you entered too quick. The gear ratios arent the problem as you just need to brake earlier if missing the apex. Having the wrong gear ratio will effect exit speed more then anything else but in a car with fixed ratios this will effect everyone equally so its not really an issue.

To me it depends what can I adjust on a car.I always add some negative front camber sometimes toe also on all cars just like I put lower tyre pressure on all tyres specaly front ones it helps me or gives feeling that car steers better LOL.

More Toe In, less camber (usually, but it depends) and decreasing front anti-roll bar stiffness (also depends). Maybe creating oversteer might also help eliminating understeer.

Hm. I think earlier braking, patience and even some short-shifting might be in order.

There's not much you can do with the road cars.

Road cars have toe in front and rear by default it adds stability. Less toe in on the rear seems to reduce stability helping turn in, not too much, toe out on the rear seems to make weird things happen... A little toe out on the front seems to help turn in.

For the road cars Aris suggested max negative camber on the front, maximum or just a bit less on the rear. Road cars don't generally have a large camber adjustment range so you can just set maximum without penalty. Tyre pressures reduced from the default mid 30s to around 25.

That's as I understand it, setup gurus may disagree :)

I've come to the conclusion that the Exige V6 Cup does understeer so for the sake of comparison I ran the Exige 240R S3 at the same track, Vallelunga. It's like night and day. The 240R S3 is slightly quicker, much more fun to drive and can be rotated so much more easily. Can anyone account for this, just as a matter of interest? Within an hour, I clocked third best lap time for this combo on RSR, 102.80% of the WR using the default setup minus fuel. No wonder the RSR hotlap page for Vallelunga/240R is more populated than for Vallelunga/V6 Cup.

Well of course this is because the V6 cup is a V6 where the 240R S3 is a tuned 4-cylinder and somewhat lighter. The differences in their times, especially around tracks with a lot of low-gear corners, is negligible but the fixed gearing in the 240R S3 suits Vallelunga a lot better than the fixed gearing on the V6 Cup. I guess with the road cars, it's important to find a good match between car and track or you can end up spending ages trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

There is one more option available to you that can alter the balance of the car. Dampers.. I would invest some time here.

Could you suggest what damper settings to alter to reduce understeer?

unfortunately i can not offer you this info as I have not driven or tuned this car. I tend to drive more race cars however have had some success dialling in some oversteer on street cars. For now i would focus more on your low dampers. Soften your front & stiffen your rear. How much depends on the car, track & driving style. Good luck.

Not a universal recipe but in most cases it helps if you:
    • soften the front rebound(s) and/or stiffen the rear bump(s) to reduce understeer during acceleration and
    • soften the front bump(s) and/or stiffen the rear rebound(s) to reduce understeer under decceleration.
