1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Where is the best place to learn about suspension setups?

    Hi Everyone,

Ive been playing on this custom track which is very bumpy and has lots of elevation changes. As a result, the car seems to be bottoming out a lot.

Other than ride height, what should I look at adjusting to prevent constantly bottoming out?

Alternatively, is there a good website or guide that teaches you in detail about what each suspension setting does?

    Thanks,

Take the X bow in magione. Or the e30 DTM at Vallelunga. Turn 2 and 3 are a real test for the suspension/tyres there.

From my point of view the ingame setup description says for every part what it does. But there is an old setup guide that was designed for netkar pro that helped me alot. That should help you if you want to know everything about suspension setup ;)

let me know if that helped you ;)

I've just downloaded netKar Pro set-up guide thanks. I spend too much time changing set-ups instead of driving. I know basics but get lost by changing things.

Always change 1 thing at a time except when you know for sure what you're doing. But even then try changing only one thing, test, if you're not happy, come back, reset to previous value and change something different that you might be the problem. If there is no problem, don't change it. 90% of setting up a car goes into identifying a problem rather than resolving it. You can resolve a problem by changing the way you drive too, you need to be able to differentiate between your mistake and car's misbehaviour. Most of the time people change things just to make it even worse because they did not figure out the cause of their problem. That's most essential with suspension set up.

A train of thought for you
Q: What do I do, I'm losing traction.
    A: Why, where, when?
Q: I get the first part of the corner but the car snaps very easily under power.
A: Why does it snap? Is it because the car is too unsettled because of the previous turn and weight transfer is way off or because you smash the throttle?
Q: Car seems unsettled and leans too far back because of the last turn.
A: You need more stability with direction changes, try adding some rear anti roll bar, if it doesn't help, try adding some rear Bump and reduce the rear Rebound which will make the car return to it's normal position quicker after the first turn.
Q: Seems to work but I still get oversteer. It's controllable now but I'm still losing a bit of time.
A: Try adding some differential Power which will prevent the unloaded wheel from spinning too much. Also some rear toe-in (0.05-0.8). If it's a medium speed corner a higher rear downforce might help stabilise the car.
    ....

And so on and so forth.. If you have any particular question - feel free to ask in the manner stated above.

Don't play too much with setup... in the end your driving is what matters. Loss of traction does not always mean the car setup is bad. Sometimes it's your driving xD I've done nealry all of my hotlaps with stock setup or only a little bit of tweaking... It happens to fast that you only critize your car and not your driving... but thats only in my case. I'm happy when i reach the top 100 of RSR-app :D

You're correct a good setup won't make a bad driver fast but will certainly help find those last seconds. Sometimes you have to wait for too long for the car to settle and apply the throttle, knowing how to set things up helps. Top 100 is a disaster for me.

EDIT: That was just an example of all the things that can go wrong on a track.

Pick a car and track and I'll run it absolutely default. Not gonna change fuel load even. Let's see how much a pure driving can make a difference. I'll tell you my time after.

Only 5 legal laps... Meh I'd go at least another 0.5s faster if I tried. Getting the hang of the competenzione 2011 now though.

Ultimately, I think it's the driver that matters. Carrol Smith in his book Drive to Win, says:

"...it wasn't until Cooper, Chapman, Broadley and Tauranac made everything on the car adjustable in the 1960s that the 'whinging driver' syndrome came into being...the day when a superior driver could carry a mediocre car on his shoulders into the winner's circle are long gone (except on street circuits in the lower classes of professional racing, about which more later). Not only can the superior driver not carry a mediocre car into the winner's circle, unless the car is pretty close to right, he cannot even push it onto the podium".

That to me says that it's the driver that's most important first and foremost. Setups can help but there's a danger that when overly focused, will cause the "whinging driver" syndrome. Instead of making the car fit the driver, shouldn't it be the driver adapting to the behavioral characteristics of a car? That, I think, makes a really great driver from the good ones. When you are slower, say you are slower, don't blame the car, setup, your wheels, your mouse, your keyboard, your monitor, etc. :p

Those excuses will not make you improve upon yourself.
