1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Where to find old games (which now are free to download) / no dos game

Discussion in 'Chit Chat Room' started by Michele Papis, May 2, 2017.

  1. I'm looking for a website or a list of old games which now are free.
For example a year ago I've downloaded for free Theme Hospital, but sometimes I read about old games available for free (I mean old main title games, not free-to-play or tiny games). Is there a website or something similar? :D
Of course, OFFICIAL games, no torrent or something illegal. Thanks ;)

    Try gog.com
Sure, not for free, but usually very cheap and you get support. Also easy installation and setup.

  4. No, I was literally meaning zero cost, not keys or sales :D

Well, I won't help you there.

If it is/was a good game, what's wrong with paying a small amount for it?
    It's called appreciation.

Google can help you, but be advised, since you said you do not want illegal things, only really legal stuff: that something gets declared abandonware does not automatically mean it is free of copyrights. It may just be - most likely - that the last holder of copyrights does not care anymore, but he nevertheless still holds the copyright. Formally it thus is illegal to download that stuff then.

This even is true if the last holder of copyright was a company that meanwhile has seized to exist, becasue then by law somebody els eusually holds the copyright, even if he cannot be tracked down .

For this reason I would not not pay for abandonware, for the payment goes to somebody who violaltes the copyright himself, even if this copyright is not actively defended anymore.

In Germany, books after 50 or 70 years loose their copyright proteciton, and the US has simliar laws, I do not know the timeframe however. If digital products enjoy the same limited protection like books, then there still cannot be any software were this copyright has ended automatically, since there are no computergames that are 50 or 70 years old.

    Formalities. Just saying nevertheless.

It goes to the wrong receiver. ;) Producer and creator are the ones you should pay.

  9. Yes for free games I mean release from their official publisher for free. In the past I read sometimes about games released for free, but I can't find a list or I don't know what to looking for :) maybe some good old game is ready to play for free.

Yes, some older games were released for free. One example is Grand Theft Auto (the original one) by Rockstar Games.
Some where even released open source (e.g. the older Doom/Quake series or Jedi Knight), although in that case it normally refers only to the source code and not artwork or other content.

@Skybird: of course that's often the case, but imo gog is quite good there, hence the recommendation.

Not entirely what you are looking for but you should check out SourceForge, a website dedicated to free open source projects, they have a games section where you can find some cool free games (80% is utter **** tho...)
