Crew Chief Beta

I have been using CC for years and it really is a fantastic tool. +1 on just keep it a simple add on, The spotter and fuel messages are great. I never really use it to its full potential in other titles anyway so I dont feel its missing too much.
Just make the default setup of CC basic for the essentials in ACC.

Flags warnings work fine
Fuel warning messages work fine
Personal Lap times work fine
Spotter works fine
Upcoming car warning works fine
End of race/last lap messages work fine
Pit exit message works fine

What more do you need??

 

Swearing at me when I make a mistake works fine....

As a driver in VR not wanting to fiddle around with the MFD and focusing on driving:
+ tell Pit Crew how much fuel to add
+ tell Pit crew what tires to be changed
+ tell Pit crew what pressures to be used
+ tell pit crew what to repair (would be unique to ACC)
+ tell Pit crew what Pit Strategie to be used (would be unique to ACC)

Using the MFD brakes the great immersion - especially when driving in VR you do have the opportunity to really get the feeling to sit in the car. Just the acceleration is missing - but there are people with motion rigs out there.

 

Sadly they have announced that ACC support will be removed.

 

I think that this is something that should be a part of the core game. It's fiddly and very distracting (and dangerous) even when not in VR if you need to change pit strategy or change drivers especially on circuits where there aren't particularly long straights.

Yep, but that doesn't mean it will be removed from CC entirely, just not supported....hopefully it will never be removed anyway

 

My understanding is that they just thinking about discontinueing because the interface to ACC is not working correctly and/or providing the necessary interfaces. Thus we should try to convince the ACC team to put some resources on getting the interface done.

 

Not sure whether it needs to be part of the core game. Due to running multiple sims my preference is to have the same interface/commands - and that's what CC is doing damned good. By the way the usage is not limited to VR - you can use that with your single or tripple screen setup as well ;-)

My point was the MFD is difficult to use when not using VR (I don't use VR), and wiht Crew Chief no longer developing features for ACC because of the issues they've said, the talking to you pit crew would need to be a Kuno dev.

 

The point is why do the CC developers no longer want to support ACC? My understanding is that the root-cause is that there is no real API interface and shared memory approach is not documented well (and maybe faulty). Others are even not starting integrating ACC into their platforms (e.g. LiveRacers).

Therefore I suggest get the root cause fixed instead of starting from scratch with functionalities are already developed.

So essentially you're solution is that Kunos redesign their platform to get Crew Chief to work for your needs (a common 3rd party interface across all of your sims), when surely the logical solution for Kunos would be, if possible without a redesign, to add more functionality into the core game?

I am sad to read that CC team will not develop more your software for ACC, I hope that it changes as soon as posible.

 

Anybody else with no working Crew Chief since 1.3.12? With 1.3.11 everything was ok...
