Not really, you could argue that iRacing is actually more fun for a lot of people during downtime as you can try the stuff you dont own

 

Speaking of bull****, during maintenance of the "i at the beginning" you can test in the meantime more or less all content on a test server for free and this downtime is announced weeks in advance.

 

Can anyone confirm if the last patch has solved/improved disconnected server list? Thank you Kunos for the patch anyway. I hope and wish things are only getting better from now on in MP.

 

I have seen ACC updated today with a 300 mb patch, but i cant find any changelog.

 

Wait a moment i dont get it, i think. You say during downtime you can go do testing on a test server.

If they released it as near abandonware kind of SMS style then it would have died a very early death. V1.0 had lots of room for improvement and there still is in many critcial areas, that have had next to no progress and were nowhere near good enough at v1.

There has been good progress in other key parts especially the base driving model and physics which has always been a Kunos strength.

 

This is related to the main lobby server being down, its down way more then is reasonable with no workaround available for when its down.

We have been told we didnt pay for 24/7 service but even if hosting your own private server you pay to be up 24/7, when the lobby is down nobody can acess this.

The private servers arent even shown in the lobby by design but we rely on the lobby being up to use these servers.

If we had a workaround then private groups could entirely bypass the ACC server lobby system which would be a great thing as its still functionally useless most of the time for many people.

 

Yes, you can drive any car you want that you don't own yet to see if you like it or not. You just have to download it before maintenance starts.

Well, I don't want to go far off topic, but just briefly - in iR you've to buy content individually (cars, tracks). During downtime they bring up secondary ("test") server, where you can test all cars and tracks in the meantime freely. So saying that they're "completely offline and you can do nothing" was misleading statement that asked for correction. I would leave it here, they're different animals with different business models, its comparing apples and oranges.

 

SMS supported the game for a year with numerous patches including fixes, enhancements, new functionality and also 4 dlc with some fantastic content.

 

And don't forget adding new bugs..

These days it's so complex they can't help but introduce more problems to replace some of the old ones alas.

I know in reality it isn't funny, but this made me laugh

 

I am a software developer, and I've sung that song a million times, still it gives me chuckles. Also, it's funny, because it's true.

 

Kunos should make their own engine once again, one without any bugs.

Then they wouldn't have to worry about hotfixes

 

And we wouldn't get another update in years lol
