1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Any official word on modding, both for ACC and Kunos moving forward?

I would say it's more than just a graphics update from the looks of it, but I'd expect it's running on Kunos physics, I always got the impression their physics engine is their main product.

We need to reactivate Kegetys. Remember how he released his mod track before the SDK even scheduled.

I hope at least apps are supported, but I doubt it. It is really great concept in AC, where everybody can easily move whatever apps they what where ever they want. Would be shame to lose that.

  5. Yeah thats a good point, ACC looks to remedy those issues that modders did a fine job filling in for.
But I'm talking (rather selfishly, I must admit) about us 3D modellers. Are Kunos gonna allow us to import our creations to their version of UE4 with all its fancy weather effects and shaders, are will we have to go elsewhere?

Yeah I get this sense too, but as you say - its just your opinion :D I'd be keen to know what the official word is - Can we rest assured that in future Kunos will provide a modern platform with up to date features that we can add and imrove with our creations? I'd like to think so, its one of the reasons AC was so succesful in the first place (IMO). If ACC was the first step towards abondoning that, It'd be a great shame, especially Kunos' history of gathering talent from the modding pool.

I'm not seeing a modding subforum (for ACC, only the old abandoned AC one)?

Wasn't GTR/GTR2 an officially licensed series? It had modding. I could see it going both ways, not too bothered either way.

Maybe an answer for another day.. I don't think so, but would like a comment maybe.

Could we have mods in an official supported series sim?

not sure the authorities back then were as tight as they are now with licences or image changing.

1/ How popular is modding in general ?
2/ Does the AC community appreciate all the content the community as created ?
3/ Does it effect the end user if there is modding or no modding ?
4/ How often does the community use AC mods ?
5/ Do people expect all games created with the Assetto Corsa name to all be moddable ?
6/ How many people have never downloaded a mod for AC ?

hhmmm does modding open up to the ripping of ACC content? if so no..

  11. Modding support means you don't have to :) No modding support means it'll likely happen anyway

I don't care much for mods. I always thought the factory content, regardless of which sim, was better than any mod. I wouldn't mind it to be moddable, but, i think there are 100 things which are much more important, like, general driving and tyre physics, good netcode, good implementation of weather, and so on.

3/ Well, there will be a lot more whinging if there is no modding
4/ Judging by the servers, almost never
    5/ OF COURSE!

i think its the end of an era. I think the question is more the "convenience" of modding. it can go either way. but it was conveniently easy for AC, it was made to be so as a usp, unique selling point. kunos know exactly how popular modding is, but the reality is nobody uses them to any extent that it was worth supporting the modding scene and with no caveat about modding on ACC I'm sure it will be possible, but it will certainly more specialised beyond the ease of modding access AC had. lol it`ll be like trying to mod rf2 at best :) .

Well... i have quite a few mods installed for AC. Some aren't bad, and, there's even the one or the other which i consider pretty close to the original content in AC. But, there's always a niggle or two i have with them. Especially the tyre physics seem to be quite difficult to get right. And the FFB was never as good as with the factory cars in AC.

I'm happy to have Le Mans in AC as a mod track though. I read though that it's not very accurate as well (i can't judge about that, as i don't know Le Mans very well, although i drove it in iR 2 or 3 times).

  17. FFB is more or less derived from the suspension geometry. Assuming the modder has done the required research and nailed that, then there should be no issues.

Then i dunno why the FFB on some mod cars is so freaking weak.

  19. Because many don't do the proper research :D There is everything available to modders to create cars that feel on par with Kunos ones if they have the required data and put the time in.
There are some that exceed what Kunos do IMO too, but of course many fall short.

But that choice, thats whats so important IMO. The nurture of creativity, modding has done so much for so many people. It'd be sad to see it gone from a Kunos product - they respected modders, grew with them and gave them the best opportunity to shine.

I can't criticise them for abandoning it, but its a huge part of what made Kunos successful, and what made them unique (the sheer accessibility and support I'm referring to here, I know other titles have modding but few as well established and mature as AC).

Sure, but, if i had to choose from several things Kunos have the time, and money to do, in a sim like AC Competizione, modding support would really be on the later places, for me. YMMV. :)
