1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Newbie needs tips on braking

So I go full throttle right to breaking zone then I go full brake immediately let off and start my turn and gently start on acceleration. This can’t be right because I’m stuck as far as my lap times. Mercedes Amg sls Laguna Seca 137.9-138s can not get any better so discouraged

I’m asking if this is the right breaking technique? Or is there a good source to learn breaking

  5. First of all, I don't think 1:37 is that bad. It's a road car, Semislick tyres, not many things to setup, so going faster is difficult I think.
Second, about braking: just the very, VERY good drivers can earn time from braking late. Usually, unless you are an alien, you have to brake in time to get into the turn with the car in good shape, to get to the apex with the best possible line AND (most important) to be able to accelerate out of the turn as soon as you can and possibly earlier than your opponent. Turn exit is where you earn tenths every lap.
The "step on the brakes as hard as you can" approach is more a Formula1 thing than a thing to do on street cars, where you have softer suspensions and you can un-balance the car and have a bad time getting to the apex.
You can modulate brake pressure, both at the start and at the end of your braking. Brake smooth and your car will be more stable. Release the brake pedal smoothly and the front will get grip progressively at turn in without jumping all over the way. Then, with a bit of practive, you will be able to do things better and faster, and laptimes will improve.
In my opinion, the fastest way to improve is being consistent (no off tracks, consistent references for braking and so on). Going relaxed without wanting to go fast helps a lot, because you can focus on doing things well and the improvement in lap times will be the result of it. You can't go faster just because you want it. A fast lap will come if you do the correct things at the correct time.
I tried myself, please check the attached replay if you want. There's lots of mistakes (long at the Corkscrew, sloppy T2, etcetera) but it is a reasonable lap - and most important it's almost morning here, need a rest :)
    Have fun!

PS: change the file extension to .7z (had to set it to .zip because the forum refused the upload).

If you are unsure where you are losing time you could use some video recording & editing software to line up your lap with someone else's (like Roberto's replay) this makes it really clear where time is being lost, you can readjust the 2 videos to have them side by side again further through the lap if the gap gets a bit too large.

Practice really is the best way to learn all these things, I found that I would eventually find a faster way. But you have to build up to it and learn at every step. Like Roberto says, aim for consistency over ultimate lap time and the speed will come as you become more accustomed to the track. Doing a stint of 30 laps without going off will be more beneficial than trying to do one really fast lap.

The amount of online races I've won just by not crashing is crazy.
