Against expectations, this is a surprisingly benign drive!

Here is Bruce Canepa, a retired American racing driver and restorer of vintage racers, toying with a 908 and showing the line around Laguna.

Please bear in mind, the 917 K raced by Mike Hailwood and David Hobbs at Le Mans in 1970, painted in the Gulf livery, filmed by Steve McQueen, had an estimated sale price of $16m-$18m at auction last year. Bruce is driving a replica, but he is still taking it easy.

Again that's it for me this week. And again had a great time. What a car. Struggled with understeer at first like bennorz but 2 click down on bias and it was much better.

Ok, I am going to share this, having debated. I'm just too excited.

It's a new car day. Look what I picked up....

We are a one car family, the requirement is supermarket and Silverstone.

Have to keep it under 4500rpm for the first 1000 miles, so you'll still see me here for a bit.

Well, I’ve never been anywhere near a 52.5, especially with the new tyre model. The best I’ve done is a mid 56 in a McLaren. First attempt in the Audi non Evo so just a starter I hope (famous last words) - maybe Moody or SGA have a 52.5 in their sights?

Lovely bit of kit. I presume that’s the 415bhp/500nm variant - which blows my mind from a 2.0 - fab engine skills from Mercedes.

Maybe a track-day up at Silverstone, my local track, in the summer once you’ve run her in and are more used to the drive - I might finally got all the scratches off mine by then??

 

In ACC is it about the fastest lap we get or how many laps we do in the 10 mins ?

I have just been reading the manual, and in RACE mode with the AMG TRACK PACE activated, the interior lighting changes from red to green depending on your lap delta....

It also stores all the telemetry, upload and share and for most recognised circuits it will show where sector time improvements can be made.
I can't wait!
