1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Attack range is already used for grading afaik.

It is but its only a part of the last 1000km graded, my suggestion is maybe use only attack/combat range km as anything that isn't doesn't really matter if there is not contact when your not next to any cars. ;)

Possible that i missunderstood what you asking for, but wouldnt that make the really fast drivers grade B even if they are clean when in traffic? I mean, if they are fast and are on a public server with plebs like me they will automatically get way ahead of us and their attack% will be low even though they might be able to actually race. As i said, possible that i missunderstood.

edit: btw, does it really matter if you are A or B? Isnt the only option for servers to use AB and not just A?

A or B only matters for the ego.
    Otherwise it's not relevant.

Main problem for me is getting the rules in all drivers heads. We should try to create a mentality where it is cool to obey the rules and educating people that ignore them in a kind way is the norm.

We should try to get kunos to write down the bare minimum of rules inside AC, visible for all drivers.

@martcerv thought about only counting the distance driven in combat and attack range. So as a lonely alien or backmarker you wont collect distance in mr.
I think lower grades should count any sort of distance because it takes good mindset and some skill to stay out of trouble on abc servers. Think about racing against casual gamers or sim noobs.
For B (only count some lonely km's) and especially A (only count combat/attack range) it might be a good idea.

yeah. i dont think kunos like to clutter down too much so it might not happen but when you load into a online session it could tell you some common rules and things to keep in mind when racing against others.

I just ran some races on one of my AB only servers, had a euro invasion clearly no servers there so they all come to the Australian ones with 400 ping. The ping really isn't the issue even though I am amazed we don't have an option to set a ping limit. The actual driving of the majority of them in 6 lap races at Silverstone in 911gt3 cup really makes me wonder how they get into AB, there is no option of running A only servers or have ping limits.

I will have to put up a video of a race as it really is pretty poor, most want full servers but when our servers get 10 or more then the euros flood in with huge pings blissfully unaware of that and also have very poor race craft. Clearly its too easy to get AB rating which is the main reason I suggested only counting combat km maybe extend the distance for minimum graded km to within 2 seconds of another car but I don't see how some people can get an AB rating. There needs to be a clear difference between B and C grade as B is the highest level we can set servers to, so getting from C to B should be much harder or we at least need to be able to have A only servers and the way I am seeing AB when more then 15 people in I would likely have all my servers A only as surely it would have to raise the driving standards above what can be seen in AB quite often.

Regarding how B only or A only are counted makes no actual difference when no matter what as long as your not C or worse you get into the "best possible minorating servers" being A grade means nothing at all actually. ;)

The thing is even amongst the horrible driving I saw I still got no contacts but was driven off the road multiple times, turned in on and lap 1 half the field didn't make it around the little right hand sweeper at Silverstone GP that's barely a turn off the line.

How people can possibly be rated the best level in traffic and cant make it that far without hitting everyone just makes no sense to me.

@martcerv There is a tool that kicks automatically above a certain ping value. I cant remember the server name on which i have seen it, but i remeber it kicking guys and it gave warnings to those who had climbing pings, telling them to check for updates, mobiles or torrents.
Might have had xcom in the server name...

I also think kunos could explain the importance of ping in the helptext of the server list...the text explains how to sort by player count:rolleyes:

Exactly, which bears the question why is there a A & B rating if it is not possible to limit a server to A rating?

I do have that enabled in the servers, maybe its the Easter break and people got AB ratings in a kinder surprise or something lol. Overall contact totals werent anywhere near ABCN servers but the general driving of many is very questionable.

Would be easy to just have a server ping limit, then admins can chose which servers are for locals only and which we can take people from further away. This along with an auto kick for unstable connections from anywhere or at least auto send and lock to pit.

I mean I enjoy racing people from overseas and good solid connections from the US to Australia for example can be 170-220 and are no issue to race at all. Even 1 on 1 with guys that have 350 ping but solid for locals is ok but get people join with 400-600 pings and 350+ unstable its a complete mess. Its almost like many from Europe are shocked there are places on the other side of the world. My servers have "aussie" in the name, location Australia and clearly show ping for users in the lobby as they do for me. The Welcome text says servers are in Sydney Australia and asks people to be aware of their ping and if they see cars warping and they have a huge ping its most likely them. All that info and we get many 350+ pingers come in saying why are the pings so high and why is it warpy, tell them to check their ping then they go wtf. ;)

But pings aren't that big an issue if the good drivers can clearly still avoid hitting people with higher pings and I have raced many 350 ping guys centimetres apart with no issue but those that hit everyone just blame the ping. Also funny if the same guy hits someone multiple times yet the other guy never hits him and the one causing the issues then uses ping as an excuse.

I jumped onto another server with just me and a good friend of mine who did the old rage quit after getting properly molested the start of a few races in a row in the AB only server earlier by guys that clearly cant drive. Was just the 2 of us pushing as hard as we could within a car length for much of the time, sideways lots of it in these cars and amazingly not a single scratch to either car in 4, 10 minute races.

    upload_2017-4-15_0-25-26.png

I know that many expect much less in terms of driving standards then I do but if we can run league races with 30+ cars over an hour and half with minimal contact and many drivers finishing without even a scratch at tracks like Bathurst or Nords. I would expect that over 6 laps in an AB server more then 1/3 of the field finish the race and most be able to do it with lots of hard but mostly clean racing, maybe its asking too much and over the Easter break the floodgates have opened. I just hoped it wouldn't effect AB servers as much as it is, so somehow it seems a few too many poor guys in traffic are getting through by simply avoiding combat rather then being good when in traffic.

Not being able to run A only servers imo makes minorating pointless, I generally try and avoid mr servers because usually you end up getting cp in most races regardless of how clean you try to be there's just so many people out there that don't care/know about mr and how it works..
You get people on A/B servers that still pull blocking manoeuvres during qualifying, or drive through all the ghost cars in pits, or doughnuts in the pit lane, pull straight out of pit lane into racing line etc..
Then you have the ones that join mid race and get involved in fighting for positions in a race they didn't even start thereby holding up the ones actually involved in the race, I know these aren't minorating problems but you'd expect people that make A/B grade to follow simple real world track safety/etiquette..

I'd love to get some A only action to see how many retards are still left(we're all retards from time to time but some are persistent)on track..

  12. It isn't just the Easter break, Marty. We have seen a lot of questionable driving on the Streetfight servers over the past two or three months, and they are AB only.

It would be interesting to try, the stats on A vs B shows it should be significantly better. B and C are very close with A clearly ahead in terms of contacts per km. Many already avoid AB only servers anyway unless they are busy which is when they get the worst. I think a full A grade server would have to be close to league standard and so even more of the better drivers that avoid pickup server racing would join in more.

    [IMG] [IMG]

If A grade only did turn out as good as the statistics seem to indicate then with videos posted showing the solid racing it will likely encourage people to try and get into these servers. This would mean they would try hard to drive cleaner in AB ABC ABCN servers to get out of them and into where the proper racing is at. Seeing B is so close to C it kind of shows why AB isn't that much better then ABC at times especially when busy, Id love a busy server with good driving all round or people at least trying. But I would also rather drive with 3 or 4 good drivers then a full server that turns into a mess, many don't mind the messy stuff and racing people that simple cant get around the first corner or even finish short races.

The thing is these guys have lots of servers available but even though MR is doing a much better job at AB then open servers it could go to another level for those wanting some proper pickup server racing only really available in closed servers atm especially if your talking large numbers.

@Minolin, could MR spam the Chat if the user types: /mr rules?

    No way.

    Write less lines ;)

Definitively, give me a few hours.
Won't look cool to be honest, but this is due to the Kunos chat apps. They aren't made for a task like this

Ok i will try to fine tune the text....even less words, yeah!

don`t forget to add "/mr" to the list under "/mr help" while you are at it...thinking of it, is it too much to ask: "/mr grade" - display grades of all drivers in this session ?
    1: Responsibility:
It is the responsibility of the driver that is trying to overtake, to make sure that the pass is made without contact.
While driving behind a car, you are 100% responsible for avoiding contact.
    2: Overtaking:
Bumper next to bumper is where overlap starts. Door next to door is 100% overlap.
To obtain right of road position, the overtaker's car must have significant overlap of the car that is being overtaken, before they reach the corner's turn-in point.
2.1: If there is no overlap before turn-in point:
Ahead drivers have the right to take any line through a corner.
Ahead drivers have the right to choose any line down a straight, but only one move to defend their position.See also 4. Defending.
2.2: If there is overlap before turn-in point:
The car on the outside has the right to outside room all the way through the corner, while the car on the inside has the right to inside room all the way through the corner.
    3: Blue Flag:
If a blue flag is displayed on your screen, it tells you that a driver (who completed more laps than you) is going to overtake you and you are not allowed to defend.
Rule No.1 is still in place, so keep on driving on your normal racing line. If you are skilled enough, help the lapping car to overtake you.
    4: Defending:
Blocking is not allowed. Movement in reaction is blocking. (If you make your move, after the car behind you made his move.)
While you are not blue flagged, you may try to avoid being overtaken with only one direction change per straight.
    5: Pit exit:
While leaving the pit, you are not allowed to cross the pit exit line.
If you are on the track and a driver is leaving the pit you are not allowed to cross the pit exit line.

Now hosts can mention /mr rules in the welcome message and drivers can ask others to read rule 4 again via /mr rule 4.

Great implementation, thank you very much!

what is the smallest car in AC, not counting the Abarth 500 SS?
In doubt less width is more important that length.

  20. Schnipp

Don't know, but the 500, Alfa GTA, Escort, M30 E30 and 718 RS Spider come to mind.
Escort might not be as narrow as I think because of the wheel arches.

Edit: Lotus 25 if open wheelers are also considered.
