ALOOG 1 - Public Server - MR[A] - Planning & Chat

Believe i was on one of your servers over the weekend. Just wanted to say a big thanks, 1st time online in ac (only racing sim i've played) and i had a blast.

I made one horrendous novice mistake, time for my public flogging and general finger pointing.

Recently been practising left foot breaking... on one race i stamped on the errrr clutch approaching the 1st corner.. bewildered why i was flying through the cluster missing the 1st half dozen cars only the collect a poor front runner with extreme roth, with my foot still pinning the clutch down, still bewildered! I was suitably ashamed. Sorry.

I must have looked like a real *****le. (I blame it on the wine!)

Agree, as I said this your server so last word is your. For me every car is ok

 

the mclaren f1 is quick, what about that?
I dont mind the zonda r, much prefer it to the 3 hyper cars. I can host the hyper cars but id rather wait and hope we eventually get tyre limitation for MP the optimum tyres for those cars are horrible, too grippy, any character those cars have is lost using that tyre. I think aloog 3 track rotation server is hosting them at the moment anyway

aloog is a community. id like the community to have as much input into what we do as possible.

glad to here you had some fun on 1 of the aloog servers @Watoh. accidents happen, I only admin server 1, not sure if it was there or another server where u had an accident. either way, thanks for your comment, these things happen.

tonight: monza - f1 gtr

 

Talking of grippy tyres, I only use the hypercar road tyres now when testing the La Ferrari, McLaren P1, and Pagani Huayra. The grip of the Trofeo slicks/Top Gear Record tyres is just too good. In fact, that's why I would love to see a semi slicks option for the Ferrari 458 S3. I also only use the semi slicks on the Ferrari F40 S3, although it's a real handful!

I agree with Andy that it would be nice to have tyre selection limitations online, although his comment that he prefers the Pagani Zonda R over the hypercars puzzles me. I thought it would have been the other way around!

 

f40 s3 belongs on period slicks IMO, I like the zonda r over the hyper cars because it has some character. they are all similar anyway, millionaires trackday weapons

 

Well, based on how scary the car is to drive on semislicks, maybe I should switch back!

 

that was a great combo!!! need to use the f1 gtr some more in the coming weeks. a lot of players were in the server this evening, noone flying into t1 at full speed, back markers respecting flags, im sure there were a few incidents but for the most part it was clean. seemed a very fair bunch of guys. we even had a little green fella beam down for a bit (im sure i heard him mutter something about making a phone call as he left.)

i dont think i can race tomorrow unfortunately but thanks to @Horus i think we can get the server changed at the normal time.

so as always, suggestions for tomorrows car and track are welcome.

One late braking made me hate the penalty system. It was good racing on the server, but the penalties sucks at monza.

 

that looks like a bug, have you searched for any threads about the issue? I havent had this myself, maybe make a bug thread if nobody else has already.

 

I only had slow down to 35 kph penalty, which is also very annoying.

 

Had a blast last evening, out of my 2 (and a half) race, no contact whatsoever..!! Truly awesome racing, tnx guys

 

Yeah, it was a brilliant racing night especially since I had warmed up on some lunatic server

I did maybe five or six races, none of which included too much crashing. Especially T1 went oddly well most of the time.

As for the penalties: people seem to get nervous once they get one and unable to take it safely...one guy stomped the brake in a 200 kph sweeper. I could just so avoid it.

The combo was indeed brilliant...speed car on a speed track. But it was really hard for me to get to a decent pace...@andy-riches and @Hany were doing constant 1:53s while I ended up in the 1:55s. Quickest was a once-in-a-lifetime 1:54.3 I believe :-D


I was a bit worried since I knew how quick Hany was and in many cases I’ve seen hotlappers bump and crash their way through the field ruining the whole race. But he didn’t...so respect He waited behind me in safe distance, didn’t even push in a dangerous fashion but I saw he could go quicker than me. So on the back straight I went left and flashed lights to let him pass. This is why I sim-race

@GTHQ_koop: it seemed we ran the exact same pace! You overtook me due to a mistake in lap what...3, 4? I stuck behind you ever since with a perfectly constant gap of maybe 2 seconds :-D Respect for staying cool in a situation like that!

Yeah, that was cool

My times were all over the place after that race, after doing some high 52's I thought I got it but just as fast I went back to low 54's. A mistake was easy made and hard to win back the time lost.

Looking forward to race this car again

 

My problem was the lap time improvement gained by experience got eliminated by the increasing amount of Weizenbier I drank. Monza has really nice beer straights...as soon as you hit 6th gear you can relax for 5 seconds and have a good sip

 

I think when u saw Hany doing 53's he was sat on my bumper the whole race I think he was doing consistent 51's and I saw him do 50's (which is scary as my best with 100% grip is only a 49!) without an alien on my bumper I think I was capable of consistent 52's and my best was a high 51. medium tyres were much better, with my setup I could go faster on them than softs, I need to try 100 grip again to see if medium tyres are better. I already had a setup for that combo which helped alot, low downforce and geared to max out 5th on the straight. if u want to try something fun run 0 or 1 rear aero the car tries to kill you around the long right (curva grand?)
