Augmenting my driving lessons with a.c..

While understanding traffic is quite different in real life, I would say sim racing does two things, at least. Understanding what you need to look for in terms of getting a vehicle to do what you want it to, and training what your eyes are supposed to be doing.

But also, I agree, Euro truck is good for general understanding of traffic driving, to an extent.

Also the ability to take quick note of what the car ahead is doing, racing or not.

Advantages, but not absolute for traffic.

I recommend GTA V, especially if you live in 'Murica. Very realistic.

 

I live in the middle of nowhere in US, and I feel BIG RIGS: OVER THE ROAD RACING quite realistic.

Twisted Metal: ice cream truck; it's like skip barber. If you can drive this without DYING then you can drive anything!!

 

That's what i would suggest, something more city driving oriented, not racing oriented. of course, i would have suggested Driver: San Fransisco as it has traffic, a city layout with back streets and freeways, and heaps of fun when you're not driving seriously.

way back in the early days of modding pc games, i built a track for 'Racer.NL' of the roads around australia based on the first Mad Max movie (anachie road, etc) and someone messaged me to say they were using it to teach their kids to drive.

 

If I would have had G25 before I started my driving lessons everything would have been much easier. I have had a simple logitech wheel, and the instructor never believed that I have never driven before, just because I was quite good with a steering (untill wheel turned over 90degrees steering was natural for me). However clutch work and H-shifter was terrible for more lessons to come, and it was way harder to concentrate on actual driving and traffic, because of huge effort I had to spend on clutch + shifter. However despite a lot of hours playing RBR I had weak feeling of car dimensions, it resulted me driving one meter away from curbs and still having a fear that I'm too close going over 60km/h.

Parking probably will be completely fresh challenge. But knowing your inventory well will help a lot there too.

 

I have never leaned to drive and would really like to learn, I personally am a big fan of Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, and when on sale, both can be had for relatively cheap with the game + all the DLC. It helped you alot in driving. Quail's drive assist me alot in it.
