Dp3 impression

seems like DP3 impressions are scatchered through 3 threads so maybe have just this one for it .. if not pls delete.

My thoughts so far in order of likeness
1. Lotus 25, Escort .. just joy
2. Lotus 72D .. feel little bit glued (perhaps it should) , have to try more, still fun
3. Brands Hatch .. tiny dissapointment
rest is OK
4. Abarth
5. SLS
6. Lambo (road)
7. McLaren

 

I thought Brands Hatch was excellent. The terrain comes through visually, something it never did in GT6 and the feel of the car as it moves through the course is wonderful. I was using a Lotus Elise for my first go on BH.

 

Of all the the Historic cars the Lotus 72D is the car of the pack right now for me. It just feels sweet with my wheel by default so maybe that's why, the Escort and 25 are good too but I need to do some fiddling to get them feel right it feels like right now they are a bit floaty for me personally. As for GT3 cars, the 650S GT3 is a beast and quite lively at limit, and I love the cute little earhole air vent thingies it has on it's side mirror pods . Sounds are pretty damn disappointing though, just sounds like reused 12C GT3 sound to me, I mean come on Kunos have shown they can do some nice sounds with the SCG last pack so why some cars still sound this uninspiring is beyond me. And the AMG is fine I guess, feels too much on rails so not to keen about that. The Gallardo S3 is undrivable, explodes every time you touch gas , but quite a lot of fun because it can only go sideways... the normal one is bleh, huge power understeer and brake/lift off oversteer as usual with all AWD cars in AC it seems now... maybe I need to spend more time with it, and given it is one of my favorite cars IRL and still I just can't get myself to drive it because of that behavior says all, I was expecting understeer but dang, this here I just can't be bothered with it because I don't find it fun... pretty bummed out because I was really hyped for it. My game looks like crap compared to before so there's that but it's not something that can't be fixed with the usual virtual elbow grease and PP fiddling. Brands hatch looks good and feels good so what do you mean by disappointing, do you mean graphically or accuracy or what? Ohwell, it all costed less than a burger so it's fine I guess.

Now that I've said the above I have to brace for impact from the stone that are about to be hurled at me. xD

this evening i tried 4 cars, 25, 72d, escort & 500 AC

the 25 is my favourite, it is sublime!have to give it a really big blip on downshift or it tries to kill you
escort was good fun, braking with default setup though! :O
500 AC is a great little car, perfect for the Indy layout
i hardly touched the 72D, my main thought was that it doesnt sound as good as the 25 or have as much charm.

I would have paid $20 for just the Escort and Lotus 25.

 

Escort drives wonderfully but the sounds... This car should sound wonderful! Please sound modders, take the challenge.

yep just visualy.. it drives nice, elevations, bumps all good
I have to do more testing of 72D .. I spend most time from all of them with this one (and Lotus 25) and had a blast .. just drives too good .. maybe there is a sweet spot with not that much power and massive aero that 72D is hitting ... tommorow when I`ll order myself gaming break I test it more ...
Interior sounds are what they are .. they sound like game, but some are fairly good

Ohhhhh yessssss, that's one hell of an update!!

Netcode is freak*n great, best it has ever been. I've raced door to door with 130+pings and no warping, pure joy. Not yet on par with iRacing yet I think, but damn close, and close enough to have real fun online.

SOUNDS!!!!! Exterior sounds on the Escort are a hug step in the right direction. Cant wait for all cars to have this treatment.

Brands is astonishing. Having raced the iracing version a lot, I can say its spot on. Elevation changes, camber, everything just makes sense. And its damn pretty too. (A little oversaturated and bright as of now, needs some tweaks on my end I guess).

As for the cars, I love the Hurracan ST. I hated the GT3 version last time I tried, but this ST is such a fun beast. The escort is amazing too, gotta love this era of motorsports! The Gallardo is pretty great too (I know, AWD is evil...), take some time to get used too, but once I got the hang of it, man, so much fun.

All in all, many thanks Kunos, this is purely amazing and the futur is looking even brighter now! Well done.

 

Could not wait to try the Escort around Brands Hatch. I've been an RS owner most of my life (current ride MkII Focus RS) so I couldn't believe it when this Escort kept revving and revving to a 9000 rpm redline and I was able to keep plucking gears up to 5th (road cars are only 4 speed). This is not one standard RS1600 Escort. I was a bit skeptical that this car had so much performance and was modded by Kunos so much as the RS1600 in Pcars is a lot more standard. I was so skeptical that I looked into my technical books to see if such beasts existed back in the day. Sure enough they did in the hands of the likes of Frank Gardner and others. Not sure why Kunos did this as it's so removed from the original car and will not allow it to race against the Alfa GTA. Just another car in a class of it's own.
Having said that it's an oversteering beast that is a blast to drive.

 

The Escort is simply amazing! And Brands Hatch is too much fun!

 

i am incredibly inconsistent, bad, & terrible at brands hatch, but i got a very similar laptime w/ same front & rear wing settings of the 72D and 312T...are these cars artificially close? not just going by the laptime, which is barely significant, it just didnt seem like a substantially superior car.

 

The Ferrari should be a bit faster, but harder to drive than the Lotus according to Aris. The cars should be quite equal for those of us that don't possess alien skills.

 

Lotus 25 is my pick so far (though I've yet to try the GT3s or the Lamborghini). Is the 25 the new GTA in terms of surprising excellence?

 

Escort looks nice (outrageous understatement). I reckon I'll be moving my shifter to the left of my wheel when I get home.

 

Alfa GTA we have now in game is by no sense a road car, it is a race car. GTA we have is a car that was raced in very similar spec and look by AUTO DELTA in 1966, this AC Escort is more or less on spec with the cars that raced in 72 73 in various touring car competitions with the 1800 cc engine and 255-265 bhp depending on the team that raced it. So yeah a true race car that even the GTAj and GTAM could not really touch back in the day on share speed. It had some good competition from. BMW 2002tii race cars that had similar output but essentially was the best race car with a sub 2000 cc engine in group 2.
