From game to Simulator

IMHO, what to improove in AC so it could be called a TRUE racing sim...


01. Enable joining a server without the booking system or having to have your name in the server list.

02. Flags

03. Enable choosing what flags to use in a session, on and/or off-line

04. Damages

05. Enable setting damages at any level, from 0% to 100%, on and off-line

06. Session ends only when the LAST car crosses the start/finish line

07. Go back to monitor after a race finishes, not close the game

08. Being able to add shorcuts to all APPS in the keyboard or driving wheel and scroll thru them

09. Use the tracks Green lights, not the arcade-like that is in use atm.

10. App showing all drivers race positions

11. Race Position app to show, absolute and relative positions, and/or lap times

12. Car lights must reflect in all track objects

13. Weather implementation

14. Night races

15. Enable in-track chat

16. Being able to use automatic txts in-track, like PIT IN, PIT OUT, etc...

17. Get rid of automatic pit speed limiter: let it be set track-by-track, and manually turn it on and off

18. Enable the possibility of doing another instance of the game

19. Get rid of the automatic 5 seconds slow-down penalty system

20. Use a “warning/penalty” automatic steward system for cuts, unsportsmanship, pit lane overspeed..

21. Enable on-line sending setups to other drivers

22. ..what else?

Not to knock your clearly thought out plan, but in relation to point 15, since when does a 'TRUE racing sim' require in-game chat?

 

We have on track chat already. Sure its only 1 row of text making it close to unusable. Might be WIP or an example (you can see the code in the apps folder "CHAT") for modders.

Agree with a lot of points, but as mentioned there are more threads with the same suggestions. Search and adding to them will probably make the mods (devs) less annoyed.

Also I see a few sugestions that are not actually problems or have already been dealt with! (7,10,11,15,19)

 

We need a proper game Lobby, where you can chat, see other drivers on track, see list of lap times and times FOR EACH SECTOR and have tabs for garage/race settings/etçª rFactor is the benchmark in this aspect, the best i've ever seen, very intuitive, right now everything in AC is too complicated and zero immersion, all end up too quickly and very low information to see...

I don't get how this is a simulator feature, not a game feature. There are no real racing competitions where you can enter in the middle of a race, without being booked...

It's certainly more convenient but it's silly to say it makes the game more simulation...

I agree with most of your points Luiz. Half the stuff you are asking for is already known to be in the final version, my opinion is that time is better spent asking for those items I have highlighted in red and blue that are only maybes or are not planned.
I'd have my own 'game to sim' list would look like this:

• Enable tire flat-spotting (coming anyway)
• Enable flags (coming anyway)
• Enable more realistic AI (coming anyway)
• Enable damage (coming anyway)
• Remove 5 second rule and replace it with a pit lane penalty in races (probably coming)
• Enable realistic starting lights (probably coming)
• Enable manual pit lane limiter (probably coming)
• Enable dynamic weather (probably coming)
• Enable pit-crew animation (probably coming)
• Enable dynamic racing line (probably coming)
• Enable night/enduro racing (probably coming)
• Some kind of warning and penalty system (probably coming)
• Enable random car failures (probably coming)
• Enable team radio (not sure)
• Enable car start in pit (probably not coming)
• Enable team engineer giving setup suggestions (probably not coming)
• Enable car stuck in sand (probably not coming)
• Enable manual change tires in pits (probably not coming)
• Enable manual refuel in pits (probably not coming)

 

I like Luigi's post, it has pretty colors.......

The last two items in red need to be changed to 'already in game'.......if you enter pits, escape and then rejoin you will have fuel and new tires.

 

I was talking about how things were in Netkar when you manually changed tires, and added fuel. Liked that, but no deal breaker. Yeah, I noticed that pretty colors raise an emotional response.

 

I would love to see an option for start race on warm tires, especially for open wheelers, starting on ice cold tires in the t125 s1 is a harrowing experience, nm in the t98, f1 mods.

With tire warmers and etc modern cars rarely start on ice cold tires, and generally rarely start on green track, unless there is heavy rain just before the race the tracks are well rubbered in by the weekend/days events.

 

Here's a few things that will make this a real simulator:

01. Setup changes occur in real time...You change a spring or shock, prepare to sit in your garage stall for 10-15 minutes...

02. Once you have stuffed a car into a wall hard enough to total it, the only way to use a car in that series again is to buy another copy of AC.

03. AC and Euro Truck Simulator need to combine so you can drive you hauler cross country in real time between events.

04. Sponsor meet and greets along with autograph sessions in real time a couple hours before the race starts.

 

Many are misleading about the booking. If you are saying of what servers lack people, no-booking will never help you and us. Except when there are more than thousands of current player, one person joins a empty server and waits for 3~5min and then quits the server. It's a cycle of what happens in empty server. Point is not no-booking, but free-joining in practice if you're not so cencerned about join lag.

 

Plan for Hornbuckle.....
01. Attack anyone with constructive critisisms on AC forums making himself self designated forum police officer.
02. Attack people and tell them that the AC forum is only for reporting bugs, when only about 0.008% of his own posts are about reporting bugs...utter hypocracy.
03. Attempt ridicule any good ideas with idiotic posts on AC forum.
04. Only talk openly and constructively about ACs problems on Race Department forums.

 

tbh, his 4 things would truly make it the realist sim in the world XD
but like other people said, most of what the OP wanted is coming/probably coming. and some of the original really don't help it to be a sim over a game.

 

I love how everyone who doesn't have the same opinion as the OP gets called the forum police. @Michael Hornbuckle makes a lot of good points, maybe not in a way you like it, but you can look through that.
