new patch broke automatic transmission

after down loading the new patch. I noticed while driving using auto transmission. that at random times the auto transmission will suddenly stop down shifting the entirely until you do it manually which gets it going automatically again. Also noticed if you hit anything whether an AI or guard rail. even just brushing along side of those the car will get stuck in the same gear as when you hit or brush the said objects. also the car will get stuck in the same gear it was in when you spin out as well.

Funny thing is when you hit the buttons to switch the gears manually thn the automatic trans mission corrects itself and starts working again.

 

Um, no. Not sure many people would even contemplate using an auto gear box in a race sim. You may as well drive with the handbrake on.

Seriously, stop using auto gears if you can - you'll get so much more out of driving without this lame crutch to lean on.

 

At the same time its in the game so its supposed to work.

 

the only reason I use auto in this game is they have the gear shift controls in reverse of what it is in pcars and it screws me up when switching between the two lol! they really need to add controller mapping! that and I as am saving for a decent wheel.
but regardless its in the game and should be working. it was before the patch.

btw I know a number of people who hold record times in the leaderboards on pcars and f1 2016 using auto transmissions so it not as much of a crutch as some think. and in recent years automatic transmissions have been appearing in real life racing. and are better in drag racing. I done street legal drag racing at my local track and cars with automatic transmissions typically beat manual transmission cars. it also why I been reading that both chevy and ford are considering not offering manual trans on the mustangs or corvettes and Camaros any longer

 

And there's me thinking automatic gears are for the old, infirm and lazy. Guess if you can still change ratios and have the car change gear for you at optimum revs it'd be a valuable assist, more of a cheat really, unless it can be done in the real car.

For a drag race I can see the benefit as all you're doing is upshifting, can't see how it'd help on track, though. Maybe some records aren't hotly contested or the real aliens have already ditched pcars.

well, either way , after playing a while it seems that gears getting stuck or not downshifting appears to be only happening a certain cars like the corvette c7. and mainly other road cars.

 

Don't use Auto myself but you are right if its there it should work correctly, my advice would be learn to drive as manual it is a sim after all ;-)
