Online v1.09 lack of track limits at Spa

It appears the lack of any track limits during races remains an issue in v1.09 on PS4. In qualifying the track limits are working but as soon as the race starts the track is a free for all.

We tried this back to back with PS4 v 1.09 and Xbox One v1.03 tonight on Spa, a track notorious for lap time quickening track excursions (cheating). Now I know there will be people who will say 'don't cut the track' but the reality of human nature, from the world of elite sport to online gaming tells us this is an unlikely solution.

The Xbox One version 1.03 at least has track limits at the final chicane and a penalty is applied for cutting the corner, the PS4 1.09 does not have this penalty.

On all other corners it is possible to cut and/or maintain speed by widening the track. At Eau Rouge the track can be cut left and widened right to carry full speed. Funniest of all watching another player in the room revealed a further shortcut - the pit exit lane can be used to cut out the entire corner without penalty.

The same issues apply for the rest of the lap, Les Combes can be straight lined, Pouhon can be driven flat out off track in a wide arc and the same with Blanchimont to the chicane.

Try it for yourselves or better yet just park up in the pits and spectate as I did you'll soon find players using these exploits.

Can anyone explain why track limits are switched on on qualifying and off for the race (with the exception of the bus stop chicane on v1.03)?
