please help, G29

Please help, bought my 12 year old a G29, all xmas day he's been trying to connect to ps4 , the steering wheel spins but it doesn't recognise it on his console, I've no idea about all this stuff, he says the updates won't allow it ? do I take the G29 back to the shop or what? he's devastated !!

 

Press on the PS button on the wheel and then select the appropriate user.
The wheel should then be active.

Also ensure that the wheel is set to PS4 at the top of the wheel for PS4 and Pc use.

Once you have entered the game, select Options and under Controls change it to wheel.

Unfortunately I do not have any other advice. Does the wheel interact with the PS4 when you press the PS button on the wheel and where you can select the current user?

Well if he then enters the game and select Options and the control and doesn't see the option to change from a controller to Wheel, I assume something must be wrong.

Is the the USB plug coming from the wheel directly plugged into the PS4 USB port?

I've seen instances where an USB extension cable or USB hub is not compatible and the wheels do not work properly. If an extension cable is used and it is over a certain length, then the USB cable must be a powered cable.

I've added a pic with the relevant section where he must change to "Wheel".

My money is on the small easily overlooked switch mounted just on top of the central hub of the steering wheel not being set to ps4/PC mode. If it is in the PS3 position, which mine was by default, the wheel will spin up and appear to calibrate but no buttons will operate, including the PS button, until that little switch is set correctly. Also, be sure to plug in all wheel connections ((power and USB) before the game is up and running. Good luck.

 

hi thankyou , we took the G29 wheel back to currys/ pc world they exchanged it, my 12 year old set it all up and still has the same problem, he took it round to a friend's house to try it on his pc , still has the same problem ,it all connects as the first one did but the racing games will not connect to it on the pc and playstation 4, we are all at aloss with it, very upsetting for my son as it is his main xmas present, don't know why this is happening, currys said they couldn't test it as they have no ps4's to test it on so tomorrow we are going back with my son's ps4 and the g29 wheel and we are going to try resolve this problem, thanks again for your help everyone .

 

Let us know how it turns out. Shame he has had to wait but it will be ok in the end and he will be over the moon and forget this disappointment soon enough.

 

There is an X-box version G290 or the PS4 g29. Double check you received the right one.

Next plug it into a laptop/pc and update the drivers. Plug it into the PS4 and make sure you press the PS4 button, this allows the console to recognise the device.

If that fails call Logitech support and they can help too. Best of luck.

hi , got it all sorted, the two games my son was trying to connect the wheel on were Not compatible with the g29 wheel, currys took over an hour to find out what the problem was , we taken my sons ps4 into the shop and they set everything up, they went on the logitech site and found games its compatible with, you're right my son is over the moon, thanks for your help , as you've most likely already guest I have no idea of all this technology, happy new year!

 

Glad he's sorted now. It did cross my mind that maybe an incompatible game was being used but since you were asking for help on this forum kinda assumed that the problems were AC related lol. Thanks for letting us know all is now well and a happy new year to you and your lad too.
