1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Positional in-car sounds

Depending on how easy/hard this would be to implement I'd like the in-car sounds (mainly the engine) to be positional, since I'm using a VR headset, but this feature should also be welcomed by people using a surround sound setup.

Currently the engine sound comes from "inside your head" as it's a regular mono source, so when you turn your head the sound stays the same. Normally this isn't too much of an issue until you notice it. then it detracts from the immersion, when the sound doesn't come from any specific direction.

I think you need a new headset or maybe just set up the sound settings in Windows, because I can very clearly hear where the engine is when I turn my head around.

Just because you were so nice I re-tried three different audio outputs (Rift headphones, DT770 Pro Headphones and speakers) and on none I had positional audio, so no /thread just yet.
It might work for surround systems and your headphones report as such, but not for stereo.

I just set my headphones to stereo mode and even though the effect is a lot less, I could still easily hear the direction of the engine. Try the Lotus Exige S which is the car I tried it on. I will try on some other cars, maybe the sound is mono in some cars and not in others.

Abarth 500, Alfa Romeo 155 TI V6, Alfa Romeo 4C, Audi Sport Quatro, BMW 1M, Corvette C7, Ferrari LaFerrari, Ford Escort...

So far all I have tested have positional engine sound.

What car have you tried that don't have it?

Just tried a couple of cars (Alfa 155, Lotus Evora S and Exos and Mazda MX5 Cup) but could not discern any directionality to speak of. The sound always comes from the same direction in relation to my head (front engine comes always from in front where I look, even when looking backward)

I won't rule out something on my end but would appreciate it if others could also report their experience, or if I can get an official answer of what the situation should be.

I opened a thread in the audio section to try and get more input: link
